Gizmo watch eating up data

About a month ago, our gizmo watch started eating up our data.  We're on a limited plan, and the gizmo has never used more than .2gb before.  Last month it used 2gb of data.  This is more than two of the smartphones on my plan use each month!  This is ridiculous for a device that cannot access the web or use navigation (the two categories supposedly using up all this data).  Multiple calls to Verizon have been fruitless.  Anyone else having this problem, or know how to fix it?

Making sure you are aware of the data usage status for the Gizmo Watch is important. We are here to help. Let's review. Can you please confirm that all open windows have been closed https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-208931/? Also, does the Gizmo Watch have the latest Software Update https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-201046/

Those open window instructions are for a GizmoTab, not a watch.  But the watch has no open windows or apps, and has actually been off and uncharged 50% of the month.  The software is up to date.

As a valued customer, your service and device concerns are our concerns too. GizmoWatch eating up data? Let's investigate this matter.

Have there been any recent changes to it? (e.g., software update, issues using a Wi-Fi signal, etc.)

I have the same exact problem, and Verizon can't seem to help.   I have called at least a dozen times, have been disconnected, transferred, put on hold, etc.  Corporate office sent a replacement, not sure if that will fix the issue.  Noticing this only in the last month, as when you look back 3-4 months, the watch has never consumed this much data.  Something is wrong, and Verizon should contact the watch manufacturer.

Thank you for reaching out to Verizon! Do you know if you have an Unlimited plan on your current account? *Tyler

No changes.  In fact, the child has been using it less often than usual.

As I stated in my original post, we are not on an unlimited account.  We have no desire to change our plan.  Agents keep suggesting this as a "solution" but it doesn't actually solve the problem, does it?  The watch is still using nearly 2Gb of data per month for something that cannot access the web or navigation.  It is using more than my smartphone that uses the web and social media all the time!

When only two months ago the watch had not used more than a quarter of a Gb of data in a month, the problem is not with my plan.  Something is wrong with the watch.  And it sounds like I'm not the only one experiencing this.  Something changed in the way these watches work in December, and Verizon seems unwilling to solve the problem.

I am having the same exact issue.  Verizon, you really must resolve this issue.  For this month, our watch has used 1.91GB of data, which more than all the smartphones combined.

Again, if you notice from the posts this issue is happening in the last month or so.  In my case (can't speak for everyone), the watch has never pulled this type of data ever before.  The plan we have has nothing to do with the enormous amount of data the watch is pulling all of a sudden.  Not sure why anyone would even bring that up as a solution.  If the watch was pulling enormous amounts of data all the time, then as a consumer you would have a choice to make on plans.  This is NOT the case.

Verizon, I recommend you contact the manufacturer and software provider and figure out what has changed with these devices recently, then provide some answers.  Get some feedback from additional Gizmo Gadget watch owners, as likely what could be happening is others on unlimited plans, might not be paying attention to their usage.
