Location Notification

For the last week or so, my son's Gizmo watch has been getting a notification of a location check in even though he has not been checking in. While this would normally not be an issue, it's occurring even when in school mode. I have looked in the settings on both his watch and in the app and cannot figure out how to disable this. I don't want him getting in trouble at school when his watch vibrates because of this and I also don't want it distracting him. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Can the watch just be set to "silent" mode so as not to buzz or otherwise make noise? The location check is probably some app running in the background. You can't shut it off because then it would "disconnect" the watch, or your "master" device would not know where the watch is.
I'm not a Verizon employee, just another customer trying to help.

Unfortunately it needs to be in school mode, not just on silent.

It is always good to be able to manage your device. From the following link, you can find the steps on how to remove this feature: http://spr.ly/6609Sr6yh Let us know if you have any questions.

I donโt have any location alerts set. It just happens whenever the gizmo app is opened on a phone. The watch beeps and says โLocation shared.โ on the screen.
so for example, I have 2 kids with gizmos. If I open the app to text one, they both get a โlocation shared.โ alert on their watch. This never happened before. I think itโs been since the last watch software upgrade mid October.

Thank you. Does this happen every time you open the app? ~Peter

Yes. Every time I open the app or press the location finder on the map - all the watches on my account get the alert.

Thank you so much for the details. We didn't find any known issues for this situation, but we recomend trying some troubleshooting to resolve the issue. More specifically, we recommend uninstalling the app and re-installing it and testing to see if the issue is resolved. If the issue continues, we recommend reaching out to the Gizmo team by e-mailing them at Gizmo@verizon.com. They'll be able to take a look and figure out if this was indeed caused by that October update.

Iโm having the same issues mentioned. Please release an update to fix this. Itโs very distracting especially when the kids are at school.

Same problem here. Anytime I even open the app on my Samsung phone, all the gizmo watch3s on my account chime. It's happening at school, church, and other quiet places despite the watches being on silent (but not "school mode.")

Same me happened to me. Last night my kids watch sent a loud beep at 12:00am, as I was trying to fall asleep. This morning I checked it and confirmed that beep, plus it also sent it's location at 6:06pm the evening before, and then it sent it again right as I was holding the watch. I have never seen the watch do this before, it's usually very quiet so maybe related to recent update as mentioned previously?
