Is the LG enV Touch a basic phone?

Places I've searched, including this forum, say the LG enV Touch is a basic phone, why can't I get it on a basic phone plan?

thanks for the reply, I was offered a $30/month smartphone plan, but I would like the $15/month prepaid basic phone plan. Maybe if there was an official list of phones eligible for that plan, I wouldn't buy the wrong phone again.

There were two types of LG enV touch phones, db277. There was one that required a data package to operate and one that did not. I believe you must have purchased the one that requires data. If you would like to get in touch with Verizon Prepaid, they can be reached by phone at 888-294-6804.
