As many of us are aware Verizon does not have its ducks in a row. They get the "easy" stuff right. But when it comes to the stuff that is not the "easy" stuff, they get very confused.
This much is certain. My original enV VX9900 is able to have its media center certificate updated. It being on the "can update list" has been confirmed at several levels.
What is not certain is just how Verizon is suppose to do so.
Did not use some of the Media stuff like back up assistant. Did not see need for it. Rest of family updated their phones, updates that use backup assistant. Saw it in use and decided it might be worth a try. Followed the steps to do so, get the well known and dreaded "catalog can not be updated" error message.
Called customer support, have followed all advised steps since that call. To Verizon corporate store #1, they can't do it. Called customer support back. Sent me to Verizon corporate store #2 today. They could not do it and they didn't even have this phone's latest firmware update, xxxx04 something or other, on their system. I called customer support while at store this time. Customer support connected me to their internal tech support who talked with the instore salesman. Internal tech support sent some link to the store's email, the link is expired. In store salesman, who had taken quite a bit of his time which means he was making sales, gave up.
So could not reflash my phone to latest firmware nor could update my media certificate.
Salesman suggested some options to back up my contact list but agreed that the media certificate is more than just backit up assistant. There are more features/services that the updated media certificate enables.
So any Verizon folks reading this thread who can take the time to connect ALL the dots for this thing so that the corporate stores in my area can get this thing done? Both my firmware update, since there is a xxxx04 version, AND get my media certificate update done. Some thing that is suppose be be able done by all accounts?
