Verizon,
If you cannot respect me as a valued customer by providing me with quality service ... then, please, by my family's contract back. I be happy to take my business to someone who does.
Release the Lumia Cyan update for my Icon Phone. It upgrades my phone so that it can function better. By, you (Verizon), holding the update back means you don't care about me getting the best experience with my phone. Thanks!

I just bought this phone yesterday 10/11/14 as the salesman told me the update would be available any day now. I'm beginning to doubt that. The up date is taking too long. This is very disturbing and amounts to sales fraud.

Paul,
I take it the sales person did not try to talk you out of getting the Icon? If not, I wonder if him telling you the update will be out any day was a way to ease your mind and help make the sale? Or, does he know something we don't? Time will tell.

That would be nice to get an update that brings the phone completely up to date. At least for a while any way.

No one knows on this peer to peer community forum when an update will be released for a phone not even the VZW reps that roam this community forum know. Of which none of those reps have responded to this discussion thread yet. They may or may not ever respond. Only time will tell.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I am surprised you just bought a new Icon - it seems to have been discontinued by Verizon, although they may be unloading remaining inventory. As for the Cyan or Denim updates, I wouldn't count on getting anything. I have read in these forums and other places online that VZ employees are saying it will be available "any day", but the truth is that they have been saying that since July.
I have an Icon that I love and feel frustrated & betrayed by VZ's unwillingness to be forthcoming on either WP8.1 or the future of the device.... but I don't think for a minute that my reaction matters to VZ at all.

Right now this isn't Verizon holding the updat, it is Microsoft/Nokia not having the update available yet for the Icon. Their sites clearly state that the Cyan or Denim updates are not yet available for the Icon.

That's incorrect. Microsoft released 8.1 and Nokia released Cyan months ago to carriers to do their testing. The page you are referring to is Nokia courtesy page to inform their customer how incompetent their carrier are and carriers are doing their own "testing". You can email Nokia to confirm that if you like.

You are absolutely correct my friend! You can complain all you want but they are the largest carrier in the country. You can always switch and tell big red to go pound sand. Forget about brand loyalty or attachment anxiety! I am switching to T-Mobile soon as they will buy my brand new contract out and give me good money to trade in for my phones. Unlimited music streaming, free global data, WiFi calling, tons of GSM phone to choose from... AND no contract!!!! What's the worst gonna happen? It doesn't work well for me and I go somewhere else? Make these carriers work for their money!

??? Why not now? T-Mobile is paying off ETFs to switch.

Last I looked, Sprint is also paying off ETFs. Of course they have only one Windows Phone, so in that regard they might be worse than Verizon. I have read that their customer service is very good currently.

T-Mobile released 8.1 for the Lumia 925 yesterday!! Looks like Verizon is the slowest, worst carrier to have for Windows Phone users.

You can easily get a new icon from the Windows Store (not to be confused with the Verizon stores). I returned a bad 928 last week and the store guy at the brick n' mortar place replaced it with an icon for no charge. I think he even said they didn't have 928s in stock. While I have to wait for denim where my wife's 928 got denim this morning, the icon with DP does everything her denim 928 does that I'm interested in.

Microsoft has announced that the new update will now be called Denim and will be released sometime in Q4 of this year. We are only 12 days in, so time will tell. Denim will include Windows Phone 8.1 and Cortana plus a host of other upgrades.

I now have 12 days to return this phone and I really do not want to pay a $35 restocking fee for something I can’t get a straight answer.
Bottom line here is the “, so time will tell” in your answer that concerns me, only have 12 days now.
