I will buy an unlocked version of the Lumia 950 if it will work on Verizon. I have hear it will not work on the Verizon network.  If this is the case I will move my account once I hear back.  Thank you

No it will not and it hasn't worked since the day it was announced.  It will never work has Microsoft decided not to build it with CDMA capabilities.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

The phone supports CMDA, it's not an issue with Microsoft.

It does not and it's been verified multiple times.

WCDMA is not CDMA if you think that they are the same.

It has the radio features in the hardware, but they are disabled, and you are correct they will never work on Verizon.

Verizon will not allow Microsoft to enable the for CDMA or their LTE bands.

Microsoft tried to leave them available/open/unlocked, and Verizon threatened litigation as they own licensing rights to the frequency bands.

So to clarify...
The Lumia 950 and 950XL will NEVER work on Verizon.
Do not blame Microsoft, it was Verizon that SPECIFICALLY stopped them from being available on their network.

^^^That is flat out WRONG!

READ AND UNDERSTAND BLOCK C RULES.

Microsoft did it themselves. Verizob under block C can not block or stop a device that works on their network from working. They even have to give the software for their network to work on XLTE and such too.

Stop spreading the misinformation by a so called expert who work for Verizon 20 years ago and has never read the Block C rules.

Also is not up to Verizon to allow anything. It's up to the manufacturer and the FCC who made block C rules. Don't believe me as the FCC, and they'll even tell you it is not up to Verizon.

Hey what do you know... HTC is starting to go on the 1 device for all carrier bandwagon...

Buy HTC 10 | HTC United States

Now let's see if Microsoft is going to do the same with the Surface phone.  My fingers are crossed.

What I've been told -- and this is very much a "cousin dating a girl whose brother knows a guy..." sort of thing -- is that the Surface Phone will be released on all major North American carriers at the same time. Verizon included. And I believe this one.

The Lumia 950 was only a placeholder for the SP and Microsoft didn't bother with CDMA certification.

The latest rumbling is that the Surface Phone trio will be released in 2017. Hopefully my Samsung Galaxy S4 will hold out until then.

I hope it is. I am tired of carrying two phones for work. Rather switch Sims than carry 2 phones to fit my mood. Yes you can call me eccentric lol

The Surface Phone is scheduled (unofficially) to hit all the major carriers, unlike the Lumia 950 that was only designed as a placeholder for the SP. Do yourself a favor before getting the 960 and look at the support forums on Windows Central and Microsoft's support forum. The 950 has a TON of issues, and when the Surface Phone is released it will be shunted to the back burner real fast. That means it won't be getting improved, and it badly needs to be improved.

With Intel's recent announcement that almost all of the Atom line is being mothballed, should that be taken as an insurmountable barrier between any potential Surface Phone and those of us Verizon Wireless customers who are patiently waiting for a new high end device?

I don't see how cancelling the Atom line is a problem for the Surface Phone...  There hasn't been any confirmation that the Surface Phone is going to use the Atom line at all.  Running native Win32 apps on a phone isn't something that's going to work.  Virtualizing Win32 apps on Azure that's accessed via Continuum now that will work like what HP is doing with Elite X3 when it's released.

If Intel is really teaming up with Microsoft on the design of the Surface Phone, which processor would be used?

they'll probably throw another showcase or just make a deal with QC instead.

As a consumer on a budget and not an expert I appreciate the straight forward answers, especially when they include a little technical information to help readers become experts.  I don't really care whose fault it is. Like many others I can't deny Verizon provides the best signal in my area. I don't want to switch but I can't give up my Windows Phone.

I have been using a Windows Phone long enough to know it's one of the best kept secrets in the smart phone market. We've always joked about Microsoft finally getting it right on version 3 and it's true with the Windows Phone. Unless something kick starts more app development for the Windows Phone it could lag too far behind. I a spoiled by having all my devices sync'd so I can enjoy the same OneNote data and all my passwords shared automatically.  Nothing against Apple or Google but I can't go back in time.

Nothing wrong with that, but right now MS is sabotaging themselves.  If the surface phone is supposed to be their saving grace it's already had a very bad start and potential delays.  I have the 950 and I am at the point there is no reason why a 1 device fits all carrier model isn't there. The surface phone has to be that phone, or myself personally will no longer be on Windows Phone until they do start making it that way.  There are manufacturers with just as small or smaller are already doing this for Android.  Verizon can't block any device made for their network even if they didn't have an hand in it.
