Paired LG exalt with Bluetooth. Attempted to make bluetooth call and get the response "flip closed" on phone only. Can a Bluetooth call be made with flip closed? If so, how set up?

After talking to Verizon Tech and LG Tech "THE" answer is the flip phone has to be open to utilize Bluetooth. This makes the LGE Exalt Bluetooth almost a useless tool. If you need Bluetooth, as I do being disabled, the LG Exalt is NOT the phone for you. Why have Bluetooth if you have to have the flip phone open all the time to use it??
