Does anyone know if Verizon is allowing existing customers to upgrade to windows phone 8 handsets if their contract date will end in the next 6 months? I seem to remember a rumor going around about that, but I thought I would ask. I ask because I have a trophy but my contract is up in January.

If your contract is up in January, then you are currently eligible for a discounted upgrade. Verizon allows you to upgrade at discounted pricing at the 20 month point of your 24 month contract.
Edit: Regardless, Verizon will allow anyone to upgrade at any time. If you have not reached the 20 month point of your 24 month contract you would just have to pay full retail for the phone.

Durn,
Check your upgrade dates in your my Verizon account. Sometimes, Verizon will have "special upgrade" promos on lines that meet certain criteria. Typically these type of upgrades are limited to specific handsets or type of handsets (i.e., basic to smartphone).
