So i still have untill April untill i can get an upgrade. So can i pay the termination fee and upgrade now with a new 2 year contract with my same number? And still get the iphone for $ 200? Thanks.
No. You cancel the account, you lose the phone number. If you try to open a new account within 60 days, Verizon Wireless reinstate your previous account and contract term with a new phone number.

It's all semantics - paying the termination fee is cancelling the contract/account - it ends. The only way a contract "ends" without closing the account is time, and then it just goes month to month. And yes, is correct.
