This is my first move to a 4g phone and want to clarify what is needed to activate. Will I need to visit a Verizon store to pick up a new SIM before I activate?
That's one option.
The second one is to start the process in your MyVerizon account online. There will be a point where it asks you if you have a SIM card. When you answer "No", it will switch to a screen where you can request one and have it shipped to you.
The third option is to call customer service with another phone and request one be shipped to you
