Casio Exilim pictures to computer

Hello I purchased the Casio Exilim phone specifically because I was told that I could transfer the pictures I take with the phone, to my PC. But I can't find any instructions for this in the User Guide. Just by trial and error, I found Media Center > Pictures and Video > My Pictures > Send to Online Album. And apparently I was successful in sending 2 pictures to it. But I don't know the URL address of the Online Album. I also found Media Center > Pictures and Video > Online Album, but it requires a user name and password. The problem here is that I have no idea what those are, or how to register them. Is it the My Verizon login info? I do have a My Verizon account, but it still doesn't help me to view the images on my phone, even if they are on the internet. What I want is to get the pictures from the phone to my computer. I don't mind using the internet to do that, but I do need the URL address of the Online Album. Also, I don't have the data package, because I literally never text. But i'm thinking that sending those 2 pictures is going to incur a charge (just like when I downloaded a wallpaper picture). I wish there could be a block, so that I don't accidentally incur charges, if I haven't purchased the data plan! Anyway, I'm hoping you can tell me either the URL of the Online Album. Or otherwise, how do I get pictures from phone to computer? Thank you very much Smiley Happy Brynn

On my honest opinion I would check into a microSD card with a reader. That would make transferring a whole lot easier
You can get a 2gb one from the site that comes with a microsd card, a memory card, and a reader for like $20. And when you get a new phone you can just put the microsd card in the new phone and you won't have to worry

If you have texting you can send them to your email as a picture text.   Just input your email address in the to field of the text and attach.  You will have to send them one by one though.    They will be reduced in size so if you want them the original size then you would need a micro card and card reader.  Mary

As I said in my original message, I do not have a data package for texting. Thanks again.

Do you have a USB cord that can run from your phone to your computer? Plug the phone up and you should be able to open the folder from your computer that is your phone's folder and click and drag pictures. Or get a memory card with a microSD card slot and or a microSD reader and transfer them that way. that is what I do.

Wow, that was fast! There is a cord that came with the phone, that is said to be used to charge the phone from a computer. But I didn't think it could transfer data, just power. I could be wrong... It has a PS2 plug and the other end plugs into the charging cradle. Do you think it could transfer data as well?

Not PS2, USB. It has a USB plug. (I see we can't edit messages here. Sorry)

Ok, well no texting. Sorry about that. I have to pay to text, which I don't want to do. I wanted this phone so I could use it like a camera. And it's not like a camera, if I have to pay to get the images to my computer.

You can edit messages.  After you post go back in to what your wrote and on the right click options then edit.  It's so much easier to use a micro card and a reader I find and it's very resonable price to do that if you phone as the slot and much easier than bothering to hook phone to computer but that's just me.  I find I use my good little  point and shoot digital more than my phone because the picture quality is much better and it's small and fits in my purse same as my cell.  Hope you can get it sorted.    Mary

Awesome, DbG2514! I'll try it. I tried that acraftylady, but it just reloads the page, it never shows me any options. I also can only see options for avatars from the Wireless category. None of the others are be displayed when I click on them. Maybe related to IE, a lot of websites don't work properly. (I visited the Help page, and see where there should be an option to use a Facebook av, but I don't see that optioin either.) But, if this charging cord does the trick, I won't be needing to visit this forum very often anyway. I'll get the cord and phone set up here in a few minutes, and let you know how it goes. Thanks again Smiley Happy

Ok, I got a message box that says: Device driver was not successfully installed. Qualcomm CMDA Technologies MSM No driver found. Oh wait, there's a CD that came with the phone. Let me reach that, and try to find out if it's a driver or what. BRB Smiley Happy

Ok, yes the CD is both the driver and the album software. When I try to install the driver, when it gets to the end of the InstallShield wizard, I get a message box that says "Eject device from computer" or something like that. And I did unplug the USB from the computer before I ever put the disc into the drive. So I OK the eject message box. Then the InstallShield wizard says that the driver was not installed and that no changes were made to my computer. I'm thinking I should restart the computer and try again. What do you think? Because when I put the disc into the drive, and it gives me a little window with Step 1 - install the driver and Step 2 - install the Album. And below that it says something like this, in red, underlined: Warning: do not connect phone to computer before installing driver. Which is exactly what I did. Smiley Sad So I'm hoping a restart will reset it? You think? I'll be back after I restart....

I'm on a laptop. I don't know what a microSD card is, but I see there is a slot for one on the phone. I guess that's the memory card that is mentioned in the User Guide? I don't have such a card. (unless it's actually in the phone, I guess I've never opened the little door) Btw, why isn't this driver/album stuff mentioned in the User Guide? I can't find it anywhere, and probably would have made this go much smoother, lol.

Yes it's a tiny card just like the ones you use in regular digita cameras only this one is very tiny and will come with an adapter in the package.  You put it in the phone and the phone will format it then set the phone to save any pictures you take to the card.  Then you take the card out, insert it into the adpater it came with and then insert that into a card reader.  If you tower doesn't have the built in card slots a multi card reader can be had for $10  or so.  Makes life so much easier in my opion than wasting hours trying to use drivers and a cable.  It can all be had at Walmart too.  Mary

Yeah, I've never had a digital camera before, so I had no idea. I thought phones had memory cards, even if they didn't have cameras. So anyway, DbG2514, restarting didn't fix it. What do you think I should do? OH! I could look at my Restore dates. Maybe I could do a system restore? I did a bunch of graphics work yesterday, that I wouldn't want to lose. But if there's a restore date/time this morning, that would be great! Aarrgh, why didn't I set a manual restore point before I ever started with this cable thing???? I should have known better Smiley Sad Well, I did know better, but I just didn't think of it Smiley Sad

Happy dance! I did a Windows update this morning, which set a restore point! But I'm gonna wait until I hear from you again, Db, in case you might have better advice.

Be careful with system restore as a computer tech told me to much use of it can corrupt a computer.  You should always always make sure to back up your important documents before doing a system restore or any changes to a comptuer.  I back up every night out of habbit myself.  Well hopefully someone can help you.  As I said I think the easiest thing to do is get a memory card and reader if you have the slot, takes seconds then to get photos from phone to computer but hopefully someone can help you get the USB plug working to transfer them.  Not all phones have memory card slots but I would guess most camera ones do these days.   Mary

If you installed the new IE9 recently that could be your browser problem.  There were a few glitches I think but mine is working fine now.  Only thing I can say it try from firefox and see what happens when you click edit.    When I go to a post I have made and click options then edit it comes up on the screen for me to edit it then I hit post again and it's changed to what I want.

couple questions:

Are you on a laptop or desktop?

Do you have a microSD card?

It works on my computer, so it has to be something in your settings.
