Elector and Tidbits, what do you say about what these moderators for Microsoft Answers has said? Meaning the cyan firmware not being released is being delayed by Verizon.

I don't have all the answers, I just know something is up with this update fiasco. It needs to be investigated for the benefit of the users...it doesn't matter if this was an update for Windows, Android, or IOS.

You can have Microsoft blame the carriers (I see three mentioned in one link and just Verizon in the first link) however do you really know if that is the truth?
I am a trusting soul and let's say in link one the moderator is telling the truth, is this moderator a developer at Microsoft? Or just some person keeping the forum moving? We don't know now do we.
In the second link the reply was to the vendors and carriers. Again not conclusive since this was a forum reply at Nokia.
Take both links and it is again finger pointing of he said versus she said. No clear cut answers.
Now let's go and say the three carriers mentioned have it be it Cyan or Denim again did it pass carrier testing? Did the carriers give it back to Microsoft or Nokia etc.? It is just not clear.
Thanks for the links

Elector,
When has Verizon pointed the finger at Microsoft. I have not heard or read anything official from Verizon about this? Their customer service representatives over the phone and community moderators on this forum all say the same thing, which is: they do not know when it will be released, it is in testing.
The only reason I can understand there being a delay is that someone or some team at Verizon has something personal against Microsoft.
Thanks,

So a community mod is your source? He doesn't even touch the code let alone work in the Nokia/OY division and is his personal speculation. Get something more relevant. He is far from a reliable source.

Tidbits,
You and Elector are not even Moderators, yet y'all seem to want people to believe what y'all are saying. If you follow the link it even shows they have MVP status. I read about the MVP status to see what legitimacy it brings. It means that they had to get chosen by someone else for not only their leadership but their proven knowledge in that area, in order to be an MVP. Furthermore, according to the Microsoft's answers websites MVPs are experts in their field. So I would think they have more information and experience to offer than you believe.
As far as I am concerned you and Elector do not have any inside information that pertains to Windows Update so I guess you both are on here just trying to rack up points and enjoy the conversations. So are you trying to reach diamond status on Verizon community forums? lol
Thanks,

A moderator will NEVER know what happens outside their division... If he worked where the code was being written I would be more inclined to believe them... HOWEVER most moderators WORK AT HOME.
So show me someone from MS front office, or someone who works in Nokia/OY division that works on the code specifically say they are finished and Verizon is withholding the update. So far to date MS has been just as quiet as Verizon has.

Tidbits, I think they are closer than you an I to knowing about the update or have closer connections to industry experts or the developers. So show me a time a verizon moderator has pointed the finger at Verizon. The only people pointing the finger that I have read doing this is Microsoft moderators pointing the finger at verizon.

I assure you he's not... I have friends that work at MS, and I probably could find out who he is, and such by asking them. If he had the ability to then I would be able to ask people in the Windows Division(people actually writing Windows 10), what is going on with Windows Phones(a completely DIFFERENT division), but it doesn't work that way man.
So he should have factual proof otherwise it's his personal opinion. My stance will always be the same as I have developed and manufacturer devices for various companies and been through the system more than once. HTC, Motorola, Sony, and even Google stopped blaming carriers for delays because they went more transparent and they couldn't hide behind blaming the carrier.

I doubt you will ever see a moderator for this community posting about a software update or anything else that doesn't relate to the Terms of Service for the forum.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

He isn't an expert in the field... He is an expert about how do things with WP devices. Not make them, code them or anything like that... He's also good at writing help articles... My company has mods just like him... So does Blizzard, and a slew of other companies out there.

Ok let's say your right Verizon is holding it back? OK. So now what? Does having a "I told you so" moment make you feel better? It certainly doesn't get you an update. Honestly I almost feel sorry for the people that make themselves miserable over a stupid update. Your phone worked perfectly fine before you even knew the update existed. Otherwise you wouldn't have gotten and kept the phone. I think the better attitude is accept the phone isn't getting the update and get over it. And if it does get it eventually then it'll be a nice surprise. At this rate the Windows 10 phones will be out before you get your update, if you do. Why make yourself miserable over it?

Updates are good man. I love updates when they are worthwhile. Nothing wrong with wanting them.

No but making yourself miserable over one every day for months is not healthy.

mrhelper, there is a remote chance that Verizon will speed their "under testing" up when more people complain, even if its only 6% of their users. That is why I say remote chance. So keep on asking for that update!

NO ONE from Verizon that matters is reading these boards. Windows phones are no where near 6% of the phones sold on Verizon. And as I said half the people do not know and/or care abut OS updates. And if it was 6% you'd be better off leaving because if Verizon lost 6% of their customers THEN they would take action. Instead people come here complain and think they did something.

Tidbits, show us your clout if you know someone at Microsoft. Let us know something concrete. I am sure you can get friends to ask around for you. There are at least a few hundred internet users that would like to know something about the cyan update.
mrhelper, your not helping. Show us your facts that no one from Verizon is reading these boards. Do you have cameras on corporate executives? That would be creepy if so.

It's not about clout. If a mod can ask about a different department then it would be easy for me to ask my friends for the same information. They should know the same information. However they do not know what happens in other departments. They don't even know what happens in the XBox division or even what happens in the Surface division...
The mod you are taking his word for has no proof to back up what he says and he isn't in a position to know.

Tidbits, help us out if you are or were in the industry. You say you have Microsoft friends. Please make some calls, texts, emails, irc, or whatever communication medium you want to use lol and get some answers from your Microsoft friends. With all these skills you say you have your not doing anything with them to help us find update information. I am sure you can find someone with some legit info if what you say is true.
Verizon must be paying their employees pretty well since nothing factual about the cyan update has left the company.

First you attack us posting, typical for this windows users threads.
Tidbits and others cannot assist you.
The simple fact of just writing complaints after complaints is getting you and others no where.
Personally I could care less about points. I think they are stupid.
I answer as truthfully as I can to even the non help posts. Bottom line if that update ever come along or not you simply will have to wait and see.
I would not take the word of the moderator at a Microsoft forum. If the post came from a head engineer or developer at Microsoft working on updates then it would be more credible.
Three out of four cellular providers are not giving the update. The same complaints are on their forums as here.
On the AT&T forums there are complaints after they received it (update) just as there was complaints about where the update was before it was released.
Windows phones are not 6% of Verizon's sales. There is not enough users on Verizon to even bother to test or send out any updates.

Maybe your right, maybe your wrong. Its worth a try. These forums, Microsoft Answers forums, wpcentral forums, Is Verizon 'retiring' its flagship Lumia Icon Windows Phone? | ZDNet the comments section of this writer's article have all been blowing up with complaining Windows users asking about the Cyan update. These users are not complaining about a bad phone either, they are complaining about in what I would term being disenfranchised compared to what apple or android users are receiving. Just because one ecosystem has more users doesn't mean you should leave out the minority. When you mess with the minority such as the underdog it hurts your corporate image even if the amount of users where 1%. I can't for one second think that Verizon has "not" heard in some way by all these complaints that people are asking for the Cyan update. Maybe these forums are wasting our time or maybe they are making other users more aware so they can go complain through other avenues that will get their message to Verizon decision makers.
Don't tell me this Cyan update has had a legitimate reason to be under testing this long. If I were managing things at Verizon or Microsoft or Nokia I could have a team developing this thing and have it ready within at least two weeks if I had the source code. Drink some coffee and stay up as long as the body will last for the love of what you do. Money is no object because Microsoft has billions. Verizon has plenty of money too and wanted a third ecosystem: http://www.geekwire.com/2012/verizon-vows-support-windows-phone-third-ecosystem/
So it is called hustling and doing what is right. If a company is lazy why would I want to support them with my money? I am not lazy so I am not going to support a company that is Lazy.
So you may love your iphone or you android have stats about how so many people have bought those phones but that doesn't change the fact that if you installed Windows update Cyan or even Denim on the ICON and marketed it and told all your Verizon employees to market it that you would make millions of dollars. That is no fantasy you just got to hustle and realize where the most money is at and go for it...and it is not iphone...I have talked with iphone users and the money conscious users see no reason to upgrade to the iphone6.
Don't reply to this post Elector or Tidbits....unless you agree with everything I am saying...otherwise you have nothing positive to add.
Rant is over, off my soap box.

Sorry but I will respond...
Problem with fan sites...
They are riddled with fans who believe nothing about their beloved products can't go wrong or willing to fabricate scenarios based off what the mod said for example of his personal opinion to be fact.
If he had any real knowledge of what is going on and made a public statement like that. He would have been fired for violating a NDA.
I wish you the best of your crusade. Personally I will take Europe's approach as the past 6 years has shown better results than going to the FCC, civil suits, Class Actions, and complaining on the web has. They forced Motorola and HTC to go transparent. They stopped using carriers as an excuse. Delivered updates which people claim carriers have all this control to delay updates. They even show the process to update. They hide behind nothing and take responsibility for their products. No one has explained to me... How can these two manufacturers as well as Apple do something that no other manufacturers can't seem to do?
