Do I need a USB Driver to transfer photos from an LG VX5300 phone to a macbook pro computer?

Hello,

I am trying to transfer Photos from an LG VX5300 phone to my macbook pro. I have found instructions on HowardForum.com. I purchased a USB cable that fit my phone but I have also read that I might need a USB Driver so that my computer recognizes my phone. Has anyone else done this before?

Do I need a USB Driver and what exactly is a USB Driver for this purpose?
