You updated and you have hotspots. Meaning what exactly? That you now have a hotspot APP that you didn't have before, or that the hotspot SERVICE works when it didn't before?

In any case, try it and see. It is normally something that is charged extra for on Verizon, although it is now included in the cost of the Family Share Plans.

If you never had the feature enabled on your account and it "works"" now, well then great. You probably won't get charged for it.

I updated my phone and now it has the capabilities for hotspots the htc trophy recently added hotspots on their phone. I can turn it on but i dont want to if they are going to charge me. I was hoping a verizon wireless customer service associate can come and help me and let me know asap. BTW dimap52 are you sure it is included in the family share plan? I am on a family share plan and just dont wanna make anything else pop up on my bill and charge me.

If you are on the Share Everything plan, hotspots are included in the plan at no cost. You just pay for the data used.

With the old plans(Family or individual), I believe there is a charge to use the hotspot if you have unlimited data, but am unsure if the same applies if you are on a tiered plan.

I still have the old "unlimited" data plan (not the new "share everything" plan and it does cost something like $20 a month for "internet sharing".  You can turn it on within the Trophy without worrying about it charging you.  If you connect to your phone from a PC and try to use the browser, it first takes you to a page that asks you if you want to add the $20 feature to your plan.  If you Google this subject, you can find out more about how this works and other helpful "tips".

Hi Killerbuck! The mobile hotspot is a great new feature of the Trophy! I use my mobile hotspot all the time to access internet on my computer when mobile and at home as well! As others have mentioned, the Share Everything plan includes the Mobile Hotspot for no additional charge. If you have an unlimited data plan or tiered data plan, there is an extra $20 charge for 2GB data on 3G devices. I hope that helps!

Unfortunately you probably don't use the Trophy for your mobile hotspot as Verizon has not yet let us use this feature.  If you try to use the hotspot feature, it takes you to a vzw page that tells you that you have to pay $20 to use this feature.  I switched to the Share Everything plan specifically for this reason, and now I can't use it.  Verizon is bumming me out.

If you google hard enough, you can solve the issue with tethering your HTC Trophy.

On the day that the update was available, I updated my phone, and when I tried to tether I got the "pay $20 and you can use this feature" page.  I learned that if I switched from my unlimited plan, I could use it free.  I switched.  It still took me to the "pay $20" page, so I called customer service.  It took them some digging to figure out what the problem was, but they fixed it on both of the Trophies on my account, and it works fine.  Whatever it is, it would be nice if Verizon would make a system-wide fix so that individuals who make the switch to the shared plans don't have to make the phone call, but for now, if you call customer service, they can get you going, and it is free if you've switched to the shared data plan.
