Even with the long-awaited release, Verizon downplays first WinPhone 7 on home page

They finally get the first WinPhone 7 and the home page doesn't even hardly register its presence. It's iPhone/Android all the time.

I don't know what home page you are looking at but the one I see has 5 specials, one of which is the HTC Trophy Windows Phone 7.  I think you need to take off the rose colored glasses.

I'm going to give it a valiant effort to be civil, despite the snarky tone of your reply (and for what reason?? do I know you? huh?).

1. I never said the HTC Trophy WASN'T on the home page. If you had read my comment, I said the home page "hardly register[ed] its presence." Your list of items featured on the home page only underscored my point. Contrast that minimal mention with the fanfare that accompanied the arrival of the iPhone 4. They actually had the equivalent of an "above the fold" lede that said the iPhone 4 wasn't here, but was soon to arrive. That's not to mention the revolving showcase around Droid phones.

2. I have no idea why the need to talk about "rose colored glasses" when my point is pretty clear. I didn't say they had to stop everything, convert the entire web site to an all WinPhone 7, all the time operation and then I'd be happy. I was just speaking about the relative quiet marketing vis-a-vis the hubbub that goes with Droid or iPhone.

3. I HAVE the phone, thank you very much. I got it at an event at work the day that it was released, 26 May at 11:30 AM after waiting for it 3 hours. Does that qualify me now to speak on the issue?

4. I'm not talking about "life being fair" I'm talking about what is going on with Verizon's marketing of this phone.

"long awaited" in that it is some 8 months after the Win Phone 7 is out and all the other major carriers have a Windows Phone 7 device or two out. And if you look at several of the top threads under the Verizon Community area that deal with Windows Phone 7, you'll see that many people were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the device and some folks went so far as to write upper management and even threatened to leave Verizon.

That's what I meant by "long awaited."

In terms of revenue and anticipated revenue, VZW probably isn't counting on the Windows phones to bring in dump truck loads of cash. That will be indicative of their promotion and advertisement efforts. I don't doubt for a minute that your thoughts are right on track. I for one resent that the Verizon homepage has looked like Apple's homepage ever since that ipod Apple calls a phone was released on Verizon's network.

I was the one who started the letter-writing campaign, and I've been waiting for this phone since I first saw a prototype up close and personal last year in March.  Not only did I threaten to leave Verizon, but I did.  Twice.  So yes, for some people, it was long-awaited.  However, just to set the record straight, Windows Phone 7 has only been out since October 21 (for the rest of the world), and in America since November 8.  That's 7 months ago.  Not "some 8 months." 

Additionally, the delays were not all Verizon's.  CDMA support didn't come until NoDo, which was released in February to OEMs, and Sprint came to market with the world's first CDMA Windows Phone on April 23.  Since I'd expect Verizon to not be able to have a phone to market in less than a month, just as Sprint, I'll give them that.  The past two months, from April 23 to May 26, that is the time frame that I charge to Verizon's mishandling of the platform.  Their lackadaisical approach to this platform is a serious problem, but the entire 7 month time frame from worldwide launch to now is not their blame to take.

Is this the forum of the disgruntled? Maybe it's just me, but it seems like people have done nothing but nitpick every comment I've made from the get go. What's the problem here?

I said, "SOME 8 months" as in AN APPROXIMATION. I didn't think I was filing a brief with a court. 7 or 8 months--what's the difference overall?
