dieseldude03,

Sorry for the delay in response. We are here to address any kind of concerns or questions about your device. That is a fantastic question about adding words to the dictionary. To add a word to the T9 predictive text dictionary follow the steps below:

While composing a text, picture or voice message in T9 Word press the left soft key to switch input modes
Select either alphabet mode, Abc (3) or ABC (4)
Press the keypad letter once, twice, three, or four times to enter the letters of the word
The next time a message is created in T9 mode, using the same numeric key sequence, the new word will be an optional word for the T9 keys entered

Please keep us posted if you have any troubles with these steps.

Tried that several times. That worked fine for the T9 Word on the older Convoy 2, but for the new XT9 Word on the Convoy 3, it seems to have no effect.

No. I'm sorry, but it's not. That article only references T9 predictive text.

My Convoy 3 uses XT9 predictive text, which apparently does not operate the same way.

None of the suggestions in the article work on the Convoy 3.

Thanks anyway.

Got me. Had mine well over a month and haven't found a damn thing to help with it.

"Customer Service" just gives me a canned answer and when I tell them that doesn't work, I don't hear a peep back.

blakethesnake,

I am so sorry to hear you are still having the same issue. I have great news! There is a resolution to adding words to the XT9 dictionary. To add a word you must first open a new blank message. Do not worry about the "To" field, just go to compose field. Once in the compose field type in the word that you want. When it comes up with the incorrect word select the correct word that you want from the list. You will have to repeat these steps approximately 20 times in a row, you can do it in the same message, and it will remember the word.

Quote-" When it comes up with the incorrect word select the correct word that you want from the list. You will have to repeat these steps approximately 20 times in a row, you can do it in the same message, and it will remember the word." Thanks but that u nfortunatly does not ADD words to the dictionary. If the word is not already on the list, there's no way to bring it up even once, let alone 20 times in a row. I've tried that using Abc inputs as well with no luck.

That "trick" simply makes  that particular word that already in the dictionary  the default word to come up for that combination of keystrokes.

Thank you but that link has already been posted above. It only covers the older Convoy phones with T9Word, not this (removed) XT9.

lol I love how excited verizon gets on this issue when they obviously don't

even have a phone in their face trying this. I talked to Samsung and they

told me that it is impossible to add custom words to the XT9 dictionary.

So verizon can stop trying to be smart. Why they thought this would be a

good thing to leave out I have no idea but hopefully they change it in a

software update or something. It is literally impossible to text
