I have an LG Accolade which I used to snap some pictures recently. I would like to download these to my PC using a standard USB link. The only jack I can find looks like a USB port but it won't accommodate a normal USB plug. What am I missing?

You aren't mssing anything - the Accolade is a VERY basic phone and does not download over USB to your computer. Bluetooth may be an option (I don't remember if some folks had success with using the bluetooth or not) - or a third party app called bitpim (bitpim.org).
Another option is to text message each one to your email address and get them to your computer that way. Tedious, yes, but there isn't really an easy way to get the photos off the phone.

Does the phone have bluetooth? If so you can buy this for like $20 at best buy. It plugs into the USB port of the computer and connects to the phones bluetooth to transfer files. Works quite well with my husband's basic phone that doesn't have a memory card slot. I even use it with my smart phone because it's a pain to take the the case off to get to my memory card. Mary
