How do i delete 'My Name Card' on an old verizon LG flip phone model vx5300? I searched on google and no answers came up. I have reset the phone in the tools master reset and that cleared everything except the phone number in my name card. There is no option to delete the number out of my name card. Is it possible to delete?

Sorry that link we provided was not helpful. Although the Name Card cannot be deleted from the phone, it can be changed for example, to a fictitious name and number. You can do so by accessing your Contacts List and then selecting My Name Card. Once there, press OK to edit the information contained there.

Thanks,

I could be wrong, but I think that has to do with the number the phone is activated on.

i think it is the number it was activated on too. Is there any way to unactivate it?

If you activate a different phone on your line, the previously used phone will automatically deactivate.

I would like to sell it on ebay, so i want to clear all the personal data out first. I still use this same phone number, but on a different phone.

When you sell it, and the other person activates it on their line, that will automatically get rid of that.

Thank you vereyezuhn for your help. What you are looking to do is called a master/factory reset to erase all your personal data from the phone. Here are the steps:

From the main screen, press Menu.
Scroll to Settings & Tools.
Scroll to Phone Settings press OK.
Scroll to Security, press OK.
Enter Lock Code ???? displays, enter the 4 digit lock code ( default: last 4 digits of the last phone number activated).
Scroll to Reset Default, press OK.
Reset Default - Preference Settings will be set to factory defaults. Press <OK> to continue displays, press OK.

Thanks

Thanks Gina, but the phone number still shows up, even after reverting to factory settings. How do we purge that number so we can recycle the phones without the number staying on the phone?

Thank you for your inquiry. Try these steps below as a way to delete the information off the phone. The steps are similar as Gina provided, except for selecting the option under step 6 for Restoring the phone. This is what was suggested by the manufacture that allows you to erase all user data and contact information you have entered into the phone's memory. The steps refer to restoring the phone but in this case as it is explained from the Manuel, it does the same thing as a phone data erase if the factory reset is not successful.

 The steps are:

1. With the flip open, press [MENU].

2. Press Settings & Tools.

3. Press Phone Settings.

4. Press Security.

5. Enter the four-digit lock code.

6. Press Restore Phone.

7. Press OK after reading the warning message.

8. Enter the four digit lock code as you did on step 5.

EdW_VZW, that option is not available on this phone and the link you provided is for a different phone.

If the resets don't get rid of the number, I don't know that anything will other than activating it on a new line. If you're worried about someone having your number, they can only see that until they activate the phone, and even then, I doubt they will be looking for the previous number. If they bother you, you can always just block their number.

My Name Card is not in the contacts list on this phone. To view My Name Card, you click menu, then go to option 5, my name card. The only thing that you cannot edit in this menu is the number, which is the only thing that the master reset does not wipe.

I  just deleted my phone number on my old LG flip phone model VX5600, and it worked!

How to reset to factory:

  1. Go to Settings> System.
  2. Tap Reset Options;
  3. Choose Erase all data (factory reset);
  4. Tap the Reset phone button;
  5. Tap Erase everything. Your phone will be returned to the same state as when you purchased it.

It worked for me!  Good luck everyone with this procedure.
