After using the phone for a few weeks, I have an update about the battery and charging.
The SKU I purchased did not include the wireless charging back. I didn't realize this at first, because the back cover I received with the phone obviously had some wiring, but that was only to support NFC. So, I ordered it from Verizon, and except that it doesn't match the color of the rest of the phone, I'm extremely happy with it. I love laying the phone on my bedside JBL speaker and it will charge.
I also ordered two spare batteries. In about a month of use, I've only had one day where I have needed to replace the battery to get through the end of my day, and it was a day I was using the Nokia HERE Drive in a rental car without a charger PLUS a couple of hours of Asphalt 5. I have been extremely happy with the battery life.
I did have one frustration with replacing the battery and wanted to let folks experiencing the same issue know how I worked around it. With my old phones, I would diligently shutdown the phone, replace the battery and restart the phone. I tried that with the Lumia 822, and it consistently treated my new battery as if it was the old battery. At the time, I had a charger available and thought if I plugged it into the charger that would reset the percentage of battery left to it's true value, but it just started slowing increasing the percentage of charge left. So, I unplugged the phone from the charger, removed the [full] battery WITHOUT a shutdown, and replaced the [full] battery. I guess if the phone doesn't have a chance to shutdown and save what it thinks is the battery state, it [finally] queries the battery and sees it's at 100%. If anyone has another way to force the Lumia 822 to query the battery state, let me know! (Maybe this is a feature request to Enless to put a "I just changed the battery" button if the query can be done under the API's of the phone).

I just discovered another app called Battery+, which has a "refresh" button on its indicator of percentage remaining. With my battery at 85%, I installed the app, did a normal shutdown, replaced the battery with a fresh one, and restarted. Without running Battery+, Enless "Battery" reported 100%. Then, I did the reverse, and Enless "Battery" reported 81%. Note: even though Battery+ has a refresh button, I never pressed it.
This leads me to think the issue with not receiving an updated percentage after the battery has been changed may be more subtle and related to the Battery Saver setting. That is, once the Battery Saver becomes active, background processing, including perhaps enless "Battery" app refreshing the battery percentage, gets suspended. I don't remember if the Battery Saver was active when I had the earlier mentioned "frustration", but it probably was. It could be that it is not the battery percentage which is recorded during a proper shutdown, but whether the phone is currently in Battery Saver mode.
So, at this point, I don't know what causes the percentage to get updated. It's possible I had Battery+ running in the background and that's the reason it worked. Or, it's possible that the problem only occurs once Battery Saver mode is active, although that is probably going to be about most of the time anyone would take the step of replacing the battery.
If anyone has more information about how to replace the battery and get a reliable percentage after replacement, please join in.
