So here lies the misconception and VZW inept ability to communicate.  All VZW does in testing is to make sure that phone connects to the network, receive/make calls, text/mms works and internet access.

They don't test the OS functionality and if the update blows anything up for breaks existing functionality.  That in this case is Motorola/Google issue and not VZW.

It's just the normal finger pointing; "I purchased the phone from VZW and they are responsible for everything wrong with my phone."

rednibkram the only way for anyone to leave their carrier in drove and jump onto VZW is for VZW to truly offer unlimited data again and we all know well that internet data is a cash cow so that's never going to happen

This is exactly why all these calls for updates is so amusing. Carrier responsibility after an update cause much flak.

It is just insane in my opinion.

The thing is at least Microsoft and Apple allow you to beta test the releases to get feedback of any issues.  So when it comes to massive updates to the devices there is little problems.  Most of Windows Phone issues after an upgrade are solved after doing a hard reset.

Andriod is a hot mess.

My wife and I must be lucky. No updates to Android or ios have caused any device failures.

I am however going to stop at a Verizon store sometime this morning and look at a windows device, if they have them to play with. want to see what all the hoopla is about having windows on a phone other than a computerSmiley Happy

The same could be said about you.  You keep popping up in forum comments stomping you feet and complaining about people complaining to people they are suppose to complain to!  It is the job of the Verizon technical support to address issues we have with our phones regardless of whether or not Verizon has any responsibility for the device or not.  It's called CUSTOMER SERVICE!  And if you want to whine about our complaints to them, then it is you who is acting like a child and with NO GOOD REASON.

If Verizon tech service employees can't take the complaints from us paying customers about our devices, then let them find new jobs.  I also work in the customer service field as a government employee and I here complaints from individuals regarding things that has nothing to do with the government or the area of government I service, yet we simply do the best we can to suffice the complainer and go about our jobs.  That's what we get paid for.  I don't ask someone to get online and defend me for doing my job and I'm sure Verizon doesn't need you online here defending theirs.

Who are you to tell anyone on these fourms to stop complaining?  Yes, you have a right to voice you opinion, but then again, so do we.

Complaining about what we consider poor customer service is not "acting like children."  It is a very ADULT thing to do.  It clearly shows the company that we are dissatisfied with the service we are receiving and have every right to do so.  What is childish it getting online and whining about people complaining about something they have every right to complain about and to the people we should be complaining to.

How much plainer can I say that!

When you get to the Verizon store, compair the HTC One (M8) for Windows to the Lumia Icon and you'll see what we have been complaining about not having.

If at all possible find a Microsoft Store instead.  Plus you'll get better answers to your questions then you'll ever get at VZW.

I don't have a Microsoft retail store in my area. I do however have a staples store which I thought I read had a windows store kiosk in them. Would that do? Or is it just for windows computers.

I am going to leave in a few minutes to check them out.

Just searched on Microsoft. There are none where I live. The nearest ones are in Danbury & West Hartford Connecticut.

Thank You

Go to an AT&T store instead.  VZW stores won't give you the time of day in regards to a Windows Phone or even if they have a Windows Phone device in store.

Yes that is true, but you forget that Android users are going through this same delay process on their devices and are just as tired of it as we are.  What if all Windows Phone users AND Android users decided we are done with Big Red's delays.  Will Verizon be able to sustain it's business with only iOS users?  Doubtful.

Like I told Apple is all a placebo effect.  Apple only releases their updates when ALL are finished.  Not release them as they are finished like other manufacturers.  Buy an iPod, or iPhone and join their ADC and you'll see what I am talking about.

Also I explained the process more than once to everyone, but alas it's not going into peoples heads.  Europe is doing it right, and we should start doing what they are doing don't you think?  For the past 6 years we've been complaining, and suing.  Carriers have won every complaint, and lawsuit pertaining to updates.  Yet Europe has seen more updates, more often, and in less time.  Here are some of the reasons why.

1.  Their equivalent of their FCC doesn't test as much as the FCC does here.  When I was stationed in Germany it was easy to see this, and often.  Sony AOSP project showed that from the time Sony got code from Google to FCC approval it took an AVERAGE of 6 MONTH, and this is for GSM devices, and didn't include Qualcomm testing.  To shorten this process Google changed 4.0 on how things are released a modular design of the HAL to get this out quicker to pass through the FCC quicker.

2.  CDMA requires additional testing that GSM doesn't.  Proprietary vs. Open Source.  Qualcomm has their own procedure which makes it harder to do.  As long as they don't touch the radio/RIL/HAL or firmware pertaining to signals 1, and 2 will not apply.  Cyan is a firmware change and more than likely radio/RIL/HAL may have changed so 1, and 2 will apply.

3.  Development teams work at different paces.  Too assume all of one team would finish at the same time another will is Fantasy land.  In my 30 years of coding it has NEVER happened that all the teams ever finish at the same time.

From the beginning I was just giving information as to why there would be delays without putting on a tinfoil hat and follow the masses in complaints.  The update is coming as Nokia said it was and that matters.  Also I am for updates, but I'd rather start putting my complaints where it really matters(as shown in Europe) than what is being done here.  It isn't working, and hasn't worked for the past 6 years regardless of platform.
