I already hate texting on my Cadence LTE
bewilder
Contributor - Level 1

All my text messages end up in one lumped pile, with no evident way to sort them into inbox, sent, drafts, etc. Please tell me that I'm wrong

The delay before i can type my next text character, if its on the same key as the last one I typed, is waaaaay too long and there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust it. Please tell me I'm wrong.

I have 8 days to decide if i want to keep this or go back to my Gusto.  I also hate the larger size of the Cadence, which makes on handed texting harder and really serves no useful purpose (for me)

I finally got it taken care of by going to Best Buy. The young lady there transferred my contacts to the 2nd Gusto using Bluetooth in a few minutes, something Verizon couldnt do in over a month of repeated calling and countless hours on the phone to numerous technicians.

When they reactivated the Gusto they had to delete evereything, so I lost my old username here and I even got a notice from Facebook that my phone number was no longer valid.

Suffice to say, the service I received on a problem that should have taken 5 minutes to fix was appallingly, inexcusably poor.

The Gusto is 3G only device are you sure they'll even let you re-activate it? Even if you can you only have a little over a year before it becomes permantley useless

I made them swear IU could switch back if I wanted to, and I made them note it in my account, and I called back 2 weeks later to verify that it was noted in my account that I could switch back.

I never would have switched except that there is no way to back up contacts from one Gusto to another anymore. Regardless of being 4G, the Cadence is an inferior phone in all other respects, and it feels like a chunk of rock in my pocket. In addition to their horrendous customer service, its time to reconsider whether to stick with Verizon or not

doesn't matter what anyone swore. Also the Cadence is the cheapest LTE phone you could have gotten so I wouldn't expect great results.

The Cadence is also the smallest. I should be able to switch back to the Gusto at the end of my billing cycle. if they don't let me, I will find a new carrier. Which it looks like I should be doing anyway.

I paid $12 each for my Gustos at Walmart, significantly less than my Cadence

you probably got that on a 2 year contract also. Not many carriers have basic phones or basic phone plans. As I said after Dec 31 2019 the Gusto becomes a brick when Verizon shuts down CDMA

No contract, its a prepaid. And I just activated the Gusto a couple months ago so they are definitely still activating them.  What happens 14 months from now is the furthest thing from my mind.

I think prepaid phones with CDMA might be allowed to be activated on prepaid accounts for now even though postpaid accounts can't activate those devices anymore.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Hello! We always want you to have the best information. Verizon will continue to activate CDMA-only devices on prepaid service through 12/31/2018. As of 01/01/2019 CDMA devices, even on prepaid plans, will no longer be able to activate. They will still be able to have service for some time though. We always want to make sure that you get the best services possible. We know how troubling it can be to find out that the device that you know and love may no longer be able to activate in the future. Right now we are retiring the entire CDMA network in favor for the more cost effective and stronger LTE network. This combined with newer devices designed for the best network will give you the best possible connection everywhere you go. For example, phones that are on the Verizon 4G LTE network can use HD Voice, which delivers digital, high-resolution sound during voice calls. There are great devices that can get you the service that you want with the device you want.

Boring, the previous comment wasn't meant for you it was meant for support. I can explain something 100 times and they still don't get it. How hard is it to understand that I was forced to switch to the Cadence  because i couldn't get my contacts to transfer from one Gusto to another despite hours and hours of "help" from Verizon Tech support?

I appreciate your attempts to help, but am not getting a smart phone and don't give a garbage about what happens in January 2020 so you don't need to keep repeating those. I'm on a prepaid plan so I live month by month. By 2020 i will find a carrier that allows me to use a small compact basic phone similar to the Gusto, since that's all I want or need.

haha, so typical!  I check my inbox and the only thing there is a copy of the above message. I called Verizon and asked where my belated callback on my escalated trouble ticket was. They could find no trouble ticket!  Haha!  Then they said they escalated a new ticket, and I would receive a callback within an hour, and I said NO I"M NOT AVAILABLE until after 5 PM!  They said OK, we will call back after 5.

Of course, they called me at 3 oclock when I was not available to talk. I answered anyway, and told them to call me back after 4, and of course now that its after 4 and I'm available to receive calls they have not called.

Unbelieveable. And when they do call, if they call, it will undoubtedly be someone who only offers the same solutions that haven't worked.

Bewilder, we want you enjoying your new phone. The good news is, that the Cadence does have different messaging folders. To manage these folders, simply follow the steps in pages 36 and 37 of the user guide at http://spr.ly/6581Dhqx7.

As it says in my subject title, I have the Cadence LTE not the Dura.  There are no such options on the text menu in my phone.

I know it is important to be able to view folders in your messages Bewilder. I was able to double check your device and this phone does not have that feature. I was able to review this thread and see that you have a Gusto now. Can you please clarify so I can help the best way I can. We don't want you to manually enter your contacts.

And what do I do if I get rid of the Cadence? Get an even bigger, more expensive phone when I want a smaller one?

The whole reason I switched to the Cadence is because I cant get my contacts loaded onto the Gusto I activated recently. I'm perfectly happy with the Gusto, and would have been happy until the end of 2019. But I've had to carry around 2 Gustos, my old one with broken camera with the contacts on it and the new one with a good camera and no contacts. I have followed every known procedure for getting the contacts onto the other Gusto with no luck, and wasted many hours of my life on the phone with so-called "technical support" (who appear to know very little. They have to look up the answers to everything and are completely flummoxed when their answers don't work).  They were supposed to call me back after I tried their suggested procedure (which failed)(and didn't; they were supposed to escalate the ticket to higher tier of support and didn't. I called again yesterday and asked them to escalate it again.  I don't expect it will do any good, and I seriously doubt they will get back to me within 48 hours as promised. If they do, it will probably be another ill-trained person who has to look up everything, who will ask me to go through all of the failed procedures I've already tried.

can you not add your contacts in manually? it would be a pain but you'd have them then. Or save then to a SD card then transfer that to your new Gusto?

I have hundreds of contacts and the Gusto has no SD. I'm not entering them manually, lol
