I can't get my Windows 7 pc to recognise my old LG VN251 phone via USB.   The verison software upgrade assistant runs and my phone is up to date.   I do get a window that pops up that says I can either run the bootstrap or look at the files on the phone, but I cannot see any photos.   Thoughts?

We want to make sure we move your pictures to your computer schpee! Do you have a memory card on your phone? If your pictures are not on your http://vz.to/1OvJVey memory card we would want to move them. After you move them than try http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-45147/ to move them to your computer. Have you installed the PC Sync software provided by LG?

I just did, but that hasn't changed the behaviour when I plug the phone in.    It still comes up with two options to run the bootstrap or open the files, and when I choose open files the phone almost instantly disappears from the explorer window.

Also, I'm not sure what good the PC sync program is.  The help document says its for synching calendar and contact data only, no pictures.

Thanks,

Mike

I found that another thread suggested going to the phone settings and switching to USB Mode, but when I do, I get a message that says no card installed.   I assume this means my 300 photos are on internal memory and not an SD card.   But I should still be able to transfer them off the phone, right?

I should add that this is an old verison phone that no longer has service so I can't just email them to myself.

thanks,

Mike

What is your USB Mode setting?  (This is different then the USB Mass Storage setting you tried above)

Your phone automatically detects a USB device. If the option is set to Ask On Plug, you are asked to confirm whenever a connection is made. 1. From standby mode, press [MENU]. 2. Press Settings & Tools. 3. Press USB Mode. 4. Use the Directional Key to scroll to a setting, then press . The following options are available: Mass Storage / Modem Mode / Ask On Plug
