I'm sick and tired of Verizon

I am sick of Verizon giving Windows Phone users the shaft. I know I could easily change service to another provider that has more options with Windows Phones, but we all know Verizon has the best service. I just don't understand why they would openly give Windows Phones absolutely no attention what so ever.

I think it's funny that on Microsoft's website it's no longer know as Windows Mobile it's just known as Windows Phone 7 or Windows Phone 6.5. Also, on HTC's website, when you click on operating system, you can either click on Windows Mobile or Windows Phone 7. I think it's funny that the makers of the operating system and the actual phone know that Windows Mobile means absolutely nothing anymore, but Verizon just refuses to give Window Phone 7 any credibility. The picture they use is hilarious. It would be like if Ford had a new 2012 F-150 but instead of showing that as the main photo on their website, the first thing you see is a 2002 F-150. Doesn't make much sense.

They clearly do not care at all about Windows Phone. All of their employees at stores know absolutely nothing about the HTC Trophy. I take it in the store to try and figure something out about the phone, and they look at me like I just whipped out a hoverboard in Back to the Future 3. It's a foreign object to them. And whenever the phone first came out, a solid month would go by and everytime I go into the store and ask if they have any accessories for the phone, they would say that they should be getting some in any day now. But in reality, Verizon has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING when it comes to accessories for the Trophy. The only things they have to offer on their website are universal accessories. I have to go to a 3rd party websites to buy anything for my phone.

One of the things I found most humorous is that under accessories for the Trophy, they have memory cards. HAHAHA. So let me get this straight...Verizon wants us to buy memory cards for our Trophy, whenever they are not compadible with the phone? And the only way to install the memory card involves voiding the warranty? Verizon, please, just admit that you don't care about the phone at all.

Additionally, in regards to accessories we only sell the accessories the manufacture provides us for the device. If the manufacture stops making accessories for a particular phone, we continue to sell what we have until we no longer carry the inventory in our warehouse. Also, if we sell an accessory specific to a phone and its not compatible or doesn't work we have a return policy that allows you to send it back and doesn't void the warranty unless the phone is damaged.

Ummmm....  The accessories you sell will work with the phone???

1. Windows Phone was not intended by Microsoft to use memory cards.  Period.  Some OEMs added a slot anyway.  Microsoft had to alter the OS to allow for it.  But the stipulation is that it has to be a "certified" card - not just any SD card will work.  Not only that, but once you put it in, it becomes a part of the  OS, and you cannot remove it without affecting the operation of the phone.

2. Trophy has a micro SD slot.  True.  However, in order to access that slot, you have to take apart the phone.  I mean with a screwdriver.  No, wait - it would take two screwdrivers.  Some of the screws are philips and some are Torx.  Oh - and one of those screws has a sticker on it that says "VOID".

Still think adding the SD accessory that you sell doesn't void the warranty?  Better to research the situation before posting a canned response.

Accessories etc aside, I agree with Hogs18, Verizon is giving Windows Phone users the shaft.  Why did it take 6 months to launch the Trophy?  They had the phone in dec 2010 but didn't launch until May 2011.  Now they have the Mango update but of course they are going to sit on that for 6 months.....

To be fair to Verizon, WP7 did not include CDMA support until the NoDo update in March.  However, they did wait two months after to release a phone and they released one with the weakest specs of the phones released to date.  Sprint had a phone ready to release less than two weeks after NoDo was released.  Mango has not been officially announced yet, but it would be nice if Verizon would be ready to roll it out to existing phones when it is offficially released (should not be difficult since it has been released for carrier testing for over a month now AND the Mango ROM for the Verizon Trophy from HTC has already been leaked online).

I would love to see a "sister phone" of the HTC Titan with Mango to come to Verizon ( in the next month) , even if it only came with 3G support.

My wife had the HTC Imagio and it was HORRIBLE, but recently I been playing with the Windows 7 phones and have been VERY IMPRESSED.  I'm up for renewal, currently using a refurbished Palm Pre + because I gave my wife the my HTC Incredible because the IMAGIO was absolutely terrible.

Absolutely.  There was no CDMA support until NoDo, and while a person could argue that once NoDo was released, carriers need time to test, but like you said, Sprint had theirs out a couple weeks later, while it took VZW 2 months.  I switched to Sprint the day that the Arrive was launched, but had to come back because their coverage is no good in my area.  I switched to ATT but their coverage, while far better than Sprint's, still doesn't do well enough to keep me happy.  I did love that Samsung Focus, though.  I dearly wish the Focus would work on Verizon, because Microsoft sent me three of them for the apps I'd developed.  Alas, since I couldn't use them, I ended up selling them.

Mango HAS been officially announced, though not in the US.  Japan has launched the first Mango enabled device.  Though ATT just announced that they will be adding THREE new Mango-native phones to their lineup, AND be among the first to release the Mango update to existing WP device users.  Where's Verizon? ESPECIALLY since the ROM for VZW Trophy has already been leaked!  I've considered putting it on my phone, but since I'm on Mango Beta, and while Verizon won't support my phone, it is in a state that Microsoft would support if there was a problem, so not worth the risk.

Verizon, you've got the network, but your service to customers is pathetic.  Get your head out and listen to your customers!

I agree that VZW doesn't care about WP7. In my area the local stores may, or may not even have a Trophy on display. I've asked to see it in a couple of the stores and get this answer - "they don't sell well, so we don't have them in the store; we can order one for you if you want, but perhaps you'd  be interetsted in an Android instead". If the phones aren't in the store, how do you intend to sell them???? It's like Burger King advertising they now serve pizza, but if you go to Burger King and ask for this pizza they tell you "the pizza doesn't really sell very well, so we don't serve it here; we can order one for you if you want, but perhaps you'd be interested in a Whopper instead". I ask again... how you intend to sell phones that aren't in the store when you go to buy them???? Why don't they just advertise the HTC Trophy is available in their online store only? That would make more sense to me. At least you'd know not to go out looking for one in their stores where their employeed try to talk you out of buying one. Okay... that's my two cents.

I had sent an e-mail a few days ago asking Verizon about supporting Windows Phone 7 more, and offering more device choices.

I just got off the phone with a member of the executive response team, and they basically said, that they are at the mercy of the manufacturers to create phones for them.  They cannot request certain devices from them, that is up to the consumer to do.  They are simply "like the cable company and offer a service."

Can you believe that crap?  I told him as a big of a company Verizon is, surely they have influence to cell phone makers to create devices that their customers want.

He didn't have anything to say when I told him it appeared they were an Android only shop.  Disappointing.

If something doesn't happen, I am done with Verizon.

Should have asked them why Verizon doesn't have the HTC Arrive since it's CDMA.
