Unless Verizon is getting some money form Google to sell Androids I don't see why they should care if you spend your $600 on Windows phone or an Android phone or whatever.

Depends on the country, but OEMs include: HTC, Samsung, Sony, LG and a few more.

And VZW does have a model from HTC & Samsung.... but unfortunately, VZW only allowed low end devices.  If Windows Phones had the same level hardware as some of those Droids... that would be really nice.

I'm wondering if there's some backroom deal like that, but since I don't know for sure....  It just seems like every time I'm in any VZW store to help friends/family, the VZW employees are pushing Droids very hard (unless the person asks for an Apple.)

Most VZW stores are not corporate stores. They are retail stores individually operated.

So if Verizon is only offered low end devices why blame Verizon? Blame Microsoft. If I'm looking for a higher end phone and none of the Windows phones are high end why would I get one?

When was the last Windows Phone has HTC, Sony, LG, and a lot of them made.  Not many, and the ones that make them only make them is small amounts, and only in small markets where it doesn't sell well either.  It doesn't bold well for Windows Phone, and honestly it was a little too late for Microsoft.  I was an avid windows users until the HD2 and since then I never looked back.

Nokia is the only company that is doing a actual hard push.

Microsoft doesn't make the phones (yet.)  It's VZW working with the OEMs determining what devices they'll accept.

Well, I know that WP is growing.  I saw a report recently saying that the number of phones doubled, but I don't remember the time frame.  And with Microsoft purchasing Nokia, it should be interesting.  And with the latest thing that Microsoft might be going to let Android apps work on WP devices....

They could bring those devices anywhere without working with carriers...

I mean look at Sony... You can buy any device you want from them if they support it.  Why doesn't many people buy the Sony windows phone?  Because it doesn't sell well, but yet they themselves push Android.  It honestly has less to do with Verizon pushing than OEM's putting little to no stock themselves into Windows phone...  Just look at Nokia and how much they sold worldwide...  Now tell me if you were a business would you invest into a 45%+ market share or a <5% market share?

It's like a catch-22.

But I do hope for a day where devices aren't tied to specific network.  Could you imagine having to buy a PC from your ISP because that ISP said only X computers were allowed on their network?

Someone mentioned VoLTE in another thread.  I only hope that they're right.
