Lumia 735 Windows 10

When will the Lumia 735 upgrade to Windows 10 Phone become available?  Microsoft Upgrade Advisor alerted me about a month ago that Windows 10 Phone will work on the 735 and it is eligible to upgrade.  However, I've seen nothing from Verizon Wireless about when this might take place.  Thanks for any insights.

With the small number of Windows Phones currently in use, Verizon Wireless doesn't appear to be making any concerted effort to push the update to qualified devices.

The general concensus is to register with Microsoft for Insider Updates and get the latest OS directly from them.

Thanks @dexman!  After I posted this questions I found the thread which mention the Insider App, so I installed it, and about an hour later was notified an update to my phone was available.

I delayed responding to the install until later in the evening when I didn't need to use it for an extended time.  The total time was over an hour (my signal strength and internet speed were most likely a factor), so a bit slow, but every aspect of the install went smoothly and required no interaction with the 735 after accepting the terms and conditions.  I am very pleased!

I really don't want to be a bata tester so I plan to uninstall the Windows Insider App.

So one more question: Is there a website which is good at explaining how to set up all my Windows 10 devices for great seam-less-ness, syncing, and great cross device work?  I currently use along with my Lumia 735 a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop and a Lenovo Yogo 2 Windows 10 tablet.

Thanks!

I'm holding off purchasing a Windows phone until the status of the rumored Surface Phone becomes clear.

Having said that, I make good use of One Drive, One Note as well as Verizon Wireless's similar apps to keep my Samsung Galaxy S4 in line with my Microsoft Surface 3 and Surface Pro 3.

If  Microsoft opts not to release Verizon Wireless versions of the phone, I'll look at the Lumia 735...if it is still available.

That's a sensible strategy. I too am waiting for more definitive guidance on the Surface Phone. I picked up a Lumia 735 as a backup phone, mostly to see where we are with WP/W10M, but the W10M official update isn't out yet for Verizon's 735. After reading all the problem stories on the insider preview builds I'm not touching it!

Keep in mind that the 735 is a mid-range device at best. I picked a clean but used one up for under $100. Some things to love about it are the overall size/weight; perfect for a backup phone. Screen is sharp and vivid. Bluetooth integration with a car is the best in the business.

On the downside, there are a lot of apps missing from the WP/W10M ecosystem. Fact of life. The power button on the right side is too big and too obtrusive - too easy to hit it all the time, even when just holding the phone. And the screen is a great size for a backup device but it's small for a daily driver.

47seijar, thanks for your comments and observations.  I agree, the power button on the Lumia 735 is in a poor location, but that is really my only complaint so far.

I decided in late winter to abandon/fire Apple and their phone and tablet because of a a business decision they had made.  I was really liking Windows 10 on my laptop (jumped from 7 to 10), and liked the concept of all three of my devices using the same (or almost the same) OS.  My new tablet came with Windows 8.1 and it was an easy upgrade to 10.  The 735 had 8.1 and I was a little slow on the learning curve, so I was glad I could install the update last evening.

I'm not quite 24 hours into using Windows 10 Phone, but so far I like it and in the process find myself embracing more of the cross-device apps which are helpful in my work and life.  I'm hoping Microsoft keeps Windows Phones alive and well.  I like it so much better then my Apple phone!

So I have an Apple Watch. Love it. I also got the Apple charger for the watch: Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock - Apple

The charging ring flips up so you can charge the watch on it's side, or flip it down flat, flush with base. I laid my Lumia 735 on top of the charger and the phone charged wirelessly! I know the 735 is wireless charging capable, but I thought you needed a different cover for that. Nope! It's ready to go right out of the box, and you don't need a specific wireless charging pad. It works with all kinds of chargers. That's a spiffing feature.
