The Verizon stores may or may not have demo units on display, but at least you can walk in and plunk down your money, and then walk out with your Lumia.

Nah, Microsoft will be releasing at least 4 more phones this year, maybe as many as 6. Even if they de-prioritize WP, Microsoft will continue to support it and to release new phones every year. Whether or not Verizon will get some of them is another question.
