Lumia 920 vs 925 vs 928

Clearly Verizon haggled for the higher number here, but knowing the aluminum edging on the 925 will eventually dent, and the lack of a Xenon flash makes me happy we get the 928.  I'm just waiting on more colors at this point.

The only thing that got me confused is that Nokia is touting that the 925 had a much better camera (than the 928).  I could care less about the aluminum body.

The only other thing that bothers me about the 928 is no expandable memory aka microSD card slot.  Is 32 GB enough for apps, maps, photos, videos and music?

Personally the lack of expandable memory is a poly to use the cloud which takes up your data allotment and getting snagged by your carrier for data overages of upping you data plan.

I think adding the new camera to the 928 would've delayed it's release.  Remember that Verizon's shown this camera in their inventory systems since January.

The 925 does have a "better" camera than the 928 (6 elements instead of 5, like the 920), but it also utilizes a dual-LED flash instead of Xenon (don't know if it's better)

However, it's a good thing that the camera app they showcased will come to the phones in a later update.

Oh and look, 2 days before the 928 availability on Verizon as announced by Nokia, there's no mention of its imminent availability on the Verizon front page...

So it showed the phone in the inventory system in january; did have a release date for 5/16?  A month or two delay wouldn't be catastrophic.

Xenon flash is better for taking still photos in low light than LED.

The camera app looks AWESOME cannot wait for to be released for other Lumia's.

The official release date is 5/16 so I don't see much in advertising from VZW on the front page till then; unless it was Andriod device.  WP is still the evil step child in VZW world even though they "say" they want it to succeed.  VZW has a multiple personality disorder

Thanks for the link. Smiley Happy  The first thing i looked for was an sd card slot. No slot. No deal. More power to those folks who don't care about having that feature with their phone.

I just want to take a minute and vent here please. Verizon please take notes as this was sloppy and you should be ashamed at how poorly you executed this phone. Why would you half ass this? This is your "hero/flagship" Nokia device. Unless you seriously just dont give a crap, which makes me even more angry, why would I give you my money for to you hand me second thought devices?

In almost every way this is exactly the same phone launched 7 months ago. It went on a slight diet to save some weight and it got a slight facelift. It has better recording for noisy environments and a rearranged connections port cluster at the top, an OLED screen, and a louder speaker....YAY. Do you really think you are going to buy my loyalty with xenon flash??? This is what I waited 7 months for? I could have gotten this with ATT when it first came out, but I thought, "no, I will give it time," I am happy with Verizon service, and as the months grew longer and longer, and other manufactures caught up and surpassed the 920 I thought surely given all this time, the next device is going to compete with these devices... S4, HTC one, (eff an iphone) and alas here it is, a 920...oooops I mean a 928 in all its 7 month old glory. THANKS VERIZON... THAT WAS WELL WORTH THE WAIT.

The next bit of pure slop was the launch, TWITTER? FFS!! No launch, no mention, just a quite message, "oh hey loyal customers, we dragged ass on this for 7 months and we almost forgot the 928 is coming out next week"  Are you ashamed at how similar this is the the ATT 920 that you had to whisper it? Embarrassed that you give us ATT slop from 7 months ago? Get it together. This was complete garbage top to bottom. As of this moment you have made me seriously doubt going forth with your service in the future, and if this is one customer, there are going to be others.

Actually, I should mention that it showed the phone (not camera) in their system since January.  I don't know when Nokia developed the 925 camera and started their own product testing prior to releasing it for carriers, so I wouldn't be quick to assume that introducing it to the 928 would've only been a month or two delay.

There are great marketing conditions and finite windows for announcing/introducing a phone to be available for purchase (i.e. Winter Holiday Season, Dads N' Grads, Back-to-School, etc.).

At least it's in the homepage rotation this time around.  Unfortunatley when I click on the bottom link the image is missing, hopefully just content propagation.  Once they offer a red version I'm in, it's the only thing I'm holding out for.

I'm so glad someone out there can actually speak their mind and tell us exactly what is going on. I am currently trying to find a comparison of smart phones. android vs windows - lumia 925 vs 928, etc.

Sounds like the 925 is the way to go, at least I can have more memory that way. Do you agree?

My HTC 8X felt fantastic in the hand, with the rubberized thin chassis.  My 928 has double the memory (32GB vs 16GB) and an unbeatable camera.

I'm most likely just going to get a silicone case for my 928 and solve the physical problems, while enjoying the better camera and increased memory.

I'm not sure when (if) the 925 is coming to Verizon, so you might be in for a wait.  If you don't mind boxy edges and a glossy finish (or don't mind a cover to solve those), the 928 is the way to go right now.
