Wyv We surely don't want your phone to service as a paper weight! I have reseached the error and it does appear that we can replace the phone under warranty as long as there isn't any damage (as you have confirmed this above). You can send us a direct message so we can get started on replacing the phone or for a quicker solution, you can call 800-922-0204.

And yes, I've tried to remove and reinsert the battery and the SIM card...nothing.

I know it's important to have a working device raineemay. I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties. When did this first begin? Was it a particular app or function? What happens when you connect it to the charger or to a computer via usb?

Hello raineemay,

Help is just a posting away! Let's get your device working properly. May I ask what was the last action taken on your Lumia 822 before you received this message? Also, is there any physical or liquid damage on the device? I would suggest verifying that your info has been backed up if you haven't done so already. As you share the details then we can look into solutions for you.

Thank you...

I had this same error start on my way home from work yesterday.  I have not dropped or damaged my phone in any way.  It was under normal use and just stopped responding.  I tried all night to do a System restore but I have WP 8.1 so the nokia restore is not compatible.   Guess I have a new Paper Weight!

When looking up my phone by serial number it says I am out of Warranty. This phone has no damage and has been well taken care of.  Would you still replace it under warranty for this type of Failure?

Is someone going to assist with this issue?  Can I get a replacement phone?  Can I have my Upgrade back so that I may use it to upgrade my other 822 before is dies?

Please Contact Nokia for more information, they are very good about servicing software issues even out of warranty.

From posts of where customers have received their phones are saying the have new motherboards in their phones.

Just got the same error message today.  My phone went to the black screen of death with the error message at the top.  Contacted Verizon via chat.  Was online for 1 hour and 15 minutes only to find out that nothing could be done which I could have told them based upon what I had read on this site.  Of course my phone is out of warranty since I have had it for 1 1/2 years and I am not eligible for an upgrade.  How convenient!  I was told to contact Nokia which I did and they gave me a download to try to reset everything.  It looked like it was working but after almost 3 hours it got to the end and nothing happened.  It just froze even though it said it was done.  I rebooted the phone and am back at the same black screen of death.  Guess I have to buy a used phone and then will have to reconsider whether or not to stay with Verizon going forward.  I have not had any issues with the phone in the past - keep it in an otter box, never dropped, never got wet, etc.  But all of a sudden it goes haywire like this that seems like either a hardware or software problem but something completely out of my control and all I get is sorry, you're out of warranty!

Nokia 822 ERROR: Unable to find bootable option.

Just want to let everyone know the situation was remedied by Verizon. There is no way to fix or reflash the phone so they sent me a new phone.

When I first contacted Verizon I was told that my phone was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do, but since my phone fried while in the midst of an update I was not keen on taking responsibility. After almost a week, Verizon agreed that since it was an issue with an update I was not at fault, and they decided to send me a replacement phone at no cost. Thank you Verizon.

The bottom line folks: If your 822 gets the "unable to find bootable" error your phone is toast, and there is nothing that can be done but replacement. They could make nice paperweights, though.

One thing I did learn in my research: Do not ever remove the battery from an 822 in the event of a phone freeze up. Do a soft reset instead. Quite a few people online report getting the "unable to find bootable" error immediately after pulling the battery.
