New windows phone?

I currently have the Lumia 735 and it has been a pretty good phone, I am wondering will Verizon/Windows be releasing a higher end windows phone like the 950. I know the 950 is not compatible with the verizon network, but I would like to have the option to upgrade to best windows has. I have been disappointed with Verizon's support of windows phones, from not having windows phones in most retail locations, to lack of new phones/upgrades. Is there any plans to release a new phone somtime in the near future, thanks

Our only hope is the HP Elite x3 will have the necessary CDMA/LTE bands otherwise that's it.

The rumored Surface Phone isn't till early next year and there is no guarantee that it will be on VZW network.

Most Windows Mobile blogs will announce any new (if any) devices for VZW before VZW does

Microsoft's pushing the Surface Phone back to 2017 was NOT good news. But others are making W10M phones so there is always hope. No definitive plans though.

Hello Verizon,

HTC? Other Windows phones? Current options are not the best in the marketplace.

If Windows is your top priority, then sadly Verizon is not for you. While Big Red does indeed offer some Windows phones, AT&T offers more. Plus a lot of Windows phones are being made without CDMA bands as GSM is the world standard. When you look at Windows Phone's minuscule market share, <3% world wide and less than half that in North America, it would be insane business-wise for Verizon or any other carrier to commit to buying a significant quantity of WP devices. So everyone has to rely on the manufacturers to include the necessary bands on their own. Imagine Verizon committing to buy 250,000 of any single model of BlackBerrys just to get them to include CDMA. That's exactly what used to happen. I know some of us like WP for mobile, but we cannot rationally expect Verizon to put on a push for what is now clearly a fringe operating system.

An option would be to have Windows Mobile devices sold exclusively through Microsoft and 3rd party sources. That way, VZW doesn't have to  commit to purchasing bulk amounts of handsets, but, would be required to support any models that are submitted for CDMA certification.

If the Surface Phone models are produced with VZW variants, I suspect that none will be made available from local VZW stores. Instead they will be special orders, or, purchased from Microsoft/3rd party sources.

I'm not holding out much hope that the HP phone will be CDMA certified.

On another Windows forum, it was suggested that the Surface Phone, itself, wouldn't be excessively different than the 950/950XL.

The thought is that the Continuum dock would do much of the "heavy lifting" via an Intel chip of some sort.

the surface phone will be a pc with up to 8 gig of ram and up to 500 gig ssd and oh yeah the ability to dial.  it will have the doc and will be running 32 bit apps.  higher end models will be just under 1000.00 and its targeted towards business.  but think about it, commuting with just your phone, no longer the need to carry a laptop!  it was delayed due to the windows 10 roadmap, Microsoft wants certain features in the phone at release, not doing the 950 mistake of putting the phone out before the software was ready.  the other reason for the delay was Intel cancelling the processor it was going to use, but now instead we will be getting better tech

it will be nothing like the 950, which is a disappointment, it was rushed out and what everything I have heard doesn't even work properly.  I only heard of one person who publicly likes the 950, and he calls himself a tech guy (very far from it may I add, but then again he tells everyone he is a big deal)

Now there are reports coming to light that Microsoft is selling the Lumia line to Foxconn.

The latest articles that discuss the sale are now indicating that only "feature phones" (what we know as "Basic Phones") are being jettisoned by Microsoft and that the sale doesn't include smartphones.

If that is true, then the sale isn't as substantive as I first thought as basic phones are not front and center in Microsoft's game plan.
