First some of the photos associated with certain contacts started disappearing, and now several of my contacts no longer have names - just phone numbers, so in many cases I can't tell who is who.
How can I stop my phone from doing this? This is my second Lumia 822, and honestly, I just want a different phone at this point...
Oh boy! I can just imagine how frustrating this must be, GSD81. How do you save the contacts to your phone? We want to make sure you can get the numbers and the pictures to stay on the Lumia 822.

Disappearing contacts was a common complaint with early BlackBerry 10 devices. Try using only a single cloud source for contacts. That means turning off Facebook contacts. And disable Verizon's Backup app. You might need to backup your data and restore the phone to factory settings, then set it up as a new phone. After that you can import your data from the backup.
How do I save contacts to my phone? I don't quite follow... I do it by selecting the 'People" tile and inputting their name and number. And it's saved to the phone's internal storage and backed up using the Backup Assistant manually.
47seijar - I thought there was only one cloud source available for contacts - via Verizon's Backup Assistant...? Microsoft has a backup feature, but that's just for apps, texts and pictures. Anyway, Facebook contacts and Backup Assistant are disabled.
Speaking of which, when I received my replacement phone, all my texts didn't import using this feature, which is why I'd rather not restore the phone to factory setting unless it can be helped, but I guess anything is better than this.
And now two of my texts threads I can't even access from the 'threads online' screen, and when I sign into my Microsoft account on my desktop, those two contacts associated with those threads aren't even there.
As for my contacts being deleted on my phone, it's still occasionally a problem, but sometimes they do randomly come back on their own.

Fantastic question! We know it's imperative to have all your contacts saved. To add, go to People, select the (plus sign)> the platform you want to save it to. For the restore from a Windows service, you would have to contact the manufacturer as we don't have access to view your backup. I apologize.
