If I buy a Nokia Lumia 822 for full retail price do I have to still have a data plan with the phone or can I just simply have calling an texting?
If you activate a smartphone on Verizon's network, it requires a data plan (how you paid for it and where you got it don't have anything to do with it).
Good evening elbertaraiders11. I am excited to hear you are thinking about purchasing the Nokia Lumia 822. It truly is a great device. Windows did wonders with the Windows 8 operating system and I know it would be a phone you would enjoy.
With smartphone devices one of their main functionalities is their ability to connect to our data network. We want you to be able to use the device to its full capabilities and with that being said a data plan is needed to comepletely activate the device in addition to a current calling and texting plan. If you bought the device at full retail, it would not be under contract and would be considered to be on a month to month agreement.
