I really wish Verizon employees would stop getting on here and trying to convince us that somehow Verizon is doing us a favor by taking weeks to test software updates then claiming another "2 weeks won't kill us.". REALLY! If Verizon is that INCOMPETENT that they can't test one or two phones on their network faster than AT&T can test AND release 3 phones on their network, then they need NEW EMPLOYEES! Or perhaps a class action lawsuit by Windows Phone and Android users to force Verizon to allow manufacturer direct updates like Apple receives!

How many times do I have to tell you that....
NO CLASS ACTIONS ARE ALLOWED PER DECISION OF THE US SUPREME COURT!
and Verizon is not obligated to update any device if they don't want to.
And no as I said before do not work for Verizon and never had.
Good Luck

Not sure why you feel so compelled to comment on these threads, but whatever. The minimum "obligation" of Verizon, as I see it, is to simply COMMUNICATE about what is going on. If they said, "hey gang, we are it testing for the next 3 years and we'll release it in 2017," it wouldn't be what we want to hear, but at least it would be information we could act on. The silent treatment and/or pretending no one has even heard of Cyan is what's unacceptable.
OBVIOUSLY Verizon Wireless, as a carrier, works with Microsoft/Nokia on these devices, and OBVIOUSLY Cyan has been released to carriers, Verizon included. So simply tell us what your plan is for rollout, and we can all go on our way and let these discussions get back to more important issues.

I comment because I am reading the same thing over and over and over.
It is not a problem with the phone.
Yet an inquiry to when an update is to be forthcoming. In and of its self nothing wrong with that.
But, the theme seems to be its blame Verizon and threaten to leave, file FCC complaints, want class action lawsuits etc.
You seem like a reasonable poster. I think you understand. Just go and look at some of these other threads not only on this so called update, but the Android updates as well.
It will arrive when it arrives and if it never arrives there is nothing that can be done to force Verizon to push them out.
Good Luck

That may be, but also KNOWING that Verizon DOES NOT relay information about updates BEFORE they are ready to be pushed to the phone is ALSO information you can act upon. If you see another provider with the update you want, simply move to that carrier if it is so important to you.
Verizon has NEVER provided status information about OS updates UNTIL the dissemination of the update is imminent and it is doubtful that it ever will. That seems to be information you can act upon, too.
If having timely updates is important AND knowing the status/timeline of those updates is important, Verizon is not necessarily the carrier for you.

Really what person would pay an ETF to move to another carrier because they released an updated first? People most likely would leave over lack of communication and seeing competitors doing a better job at rolling out updates.
In all reality people move to other carriers because of devices and not because of their software update schedules. Communications goes a long way. The is more harm staying quite than announcing an estimate time frame.

The key phrase he said was " If you see another provider with the update you want, simply move to that carrier if it is so important to you".
Not that you have to but only if you thought the update was important to you.
As you can tell customers threaten to leave on almost any thread be it because of a lack of an update, or because the update caused problems to the device.
Verizon cannot win in any situation.

My comment about who would pay an ETF stll holds
Customers threatening to leave is wasted breath. VZW turns out huge profits and new subscribers each quarter. A few hundred leaving is nothing to them; it's a part of business. Heck it could also be a revenue generating action being there's a potential ETF involved.
No carrier can win because they are solely tied to profit over anything else and I get that. But carriers could have a happy balance and maybe increase profits if they are more forth coming with news on up coming devices and software update schedules.

Personally a person in anger would gladly pay any price to get away from the company.
Trouble is the grass is not always greener at the other lawn (Carrier)
But you make good points

That may be, but being anxious to get updates AND staying with Verizon seems to be an oxymoron, yet there are people who continue to sign up with Verizon knowing full well their track record with updates. For as long as I can remember, Verizon has been last to get the majority of updates. If a timely update is important to someone, why would they (continue to) sign up with Verizon???
