Not quite the same Icon 8.1/Cyan/Denim question ...

Dear Verizon folks,

I've cruised through as many of these threads as I could, and have seen many, many questions about when 8.1 and Cyan (and Denim) updates will be made available to your Icon customers.

The ONLY reply FROM VERIZON that I've seen is the non-reply that we should watch your news page for more information. I have not seen you say YES, we are working on updates for the Icon. I have not seen you say NO, we are not working on updates for the Icon.

It would serve your customers well if you would answer with a simple yes or no for each of these: ARE you planning to release the 8.1 update, the Cyan update, the Denim update, for the Lumia Icon (929)?

We'd appreciate some straightforward information about how it's going, too. We'd appreciate hearing what kind of issues are hanging it up, if there are any.

But the simple yes or no would be most appreciated.

Nokia website says it is being worked on. I have yet to sesea carrier that has not rnotase an update that a manufacturer has not completed and passed testing. So unless Nokia stops development you will have the update based on history the past 10 years or so dating back to Windows Mobile.

My wife and I are both use Lumia Icons and we could not be more pleased.  Every time I demo it or show pictures taken on them to iPhone and Android users they are extremely jealous!  I have also been following the associated Cyan/Windows 8.1 Icon update threads.  Seems like most of the worthless reply’s to legitimate Windows Phone customer’s concerns are just that, worthless!  The point Verizon and these pundits are missing is the fact that this is a CUSTOMER SATIFACTION issue!!!!  I don’t care what device they are using.  It’s obvious Verizon does not care about thousands of their loyal customers because they perceive Windows (Lumia) Phone as a small percent of their base. If they understood CUSTOMER SERVICE we would all be treated equal!!  I too have contacted CEO Mead and received a follow up within an hour and only received the standard boilerplate worthless responses.  He (his staff) couldn’t even answer the simple question, How would you feel if you were on the receiving end of your Customer Service on this issue?  I have been with Verizon for 19 years and will be leaving them soon if they cannot find a way to provide better support to Microsoft Lumia phone customers!  Just a side note, I visited an AT&T store the other day.  AT&T had all Microsoft Lumia phones well displayed and the sales rep was very knowledgeable of the Microsoft Lumia products.  I agree with wstantontacoma, a simple YES or NO answer to ARE you planning to release the 8.1 update, the Cyan update, the Denim update, for the Lumia Icon (929)?

Not sure what Nokia is doing on Lumia now that Microsoft owns Nokia's phone operations ... but whether MS or Nokia, they're not Verizon. Verizon's customer service would serve its customers well by helping us plan. Instead, they're silent.

sadly Verizon is actually a SERVICE provider, and not a device manufacturer...  This is the disconnect people have here in the states.

Nokia can tell you everything you need to know, but they know you'll never get to ask the right people on their side of the fence.  You'll ask Verizon which will have a gag order and can only say what Nokia tells them they can say.

HTC and Motorola are examples on how they changed their updating policies.  They took responsibility publicly and they also went transparent where you can see what they are doing when it comes to their updates and the whole process.  They stopped pointing fingers are carriers, and they also tell their customers look here we are responsible.  They have been able to do what Nokia can't seem to do... Well any other manufacturer for that matter...  They go as far to explain their whole process, and while working on major updates they show EXACTLY where they are.  They even admitted carriers don't touch code at all, and have little to do with the whole process until testing the update against network security.

This was all spurred by Europe and how they do things.  The way they are doing things seems to benefit us greatly, and I think maybe we should start doing what they do... They don't blame carriers(Yes they sign contracts with carriers to get devices.  Yes their respective carriers also test the updates as well) and they blame the manufacturers.  multiple years their way seems to be working while ours have always the same non-results.

I spoke with Microsoft and Nokia support. Both said that the update has been released to Verizon.

To Elector, you ned to stand down a little. I know you are trying to get a point across, but these people are angry at the carrier not you.

Really not wanting a lot of flaming of one another or Verizon on this thread.

I'd just like someone from customer service to reply with a yes or no to each of the questions -- and if they don't know, I'd like them to find out.

Thanks.

Oops. I meant that to be a comment on the whole thread, not to any one person.

Thanks.

Really?  A gag order?   Microsoft has already stated they are working with Verizon on the update, but which update?  Cyan?  Denim?  If Microsoft has already stated they are working with Verizon for the update, then what gag order?  Why can't Verizon tell us that yes, they agree, they are working with Microsoft?  Why does Verizon continue to stay silent about something Microsoft has already stated?  Gag order!?  I think not!  HORRIBLE customer service, more likely!
