Phone Won't Receive or Send Messages

Just recently my phone stopped sending, and receiving messages and will not connect or receive phone calls in my apartment. I have updated the roaming and that still has not helped. I have also tried taking out the battery and that also has not helped. It has worked in my room before and I am unsure how to fix it. If anyone can help that would be great
