Phone losing its tiny little mind

Today while I was at work, I found that my Lumia 822 had systematically deleted track 1 from all of my albums on the SD card (a Sandisk 32GB). Over the course of troubleshooting, formatting, trying different cards, etc, it got to the point that not only did the phone no longer see any of my music, it no longer saw any of the photos on the card. When I plugged any of my cards directly into my PC, the data came up fine. When I connected my phone to the PC (which is apparently a good way to invite data corruption), I could copy my files back to it (except for Saved Pictures, which insisted that "the device is disconnected or no longer responding"), but they're still not visible as mp3s or jpgs - the storage app simply lumps them all together as "Other".

Furthermore, the volume keeps resetting itself to 13 when the screen goes into lock, no matter where I'd left it before.

I've not installed any apps lately (I'm not a big apps guy, primarily using my phone for work). I've uninstalled a few that I wasn't using. I'm running the dev preview of GDR3.

A hard reset is the last thing I want to do, but at this point, I'm out of other ideas. Anyone else seen their phone go Librarian-poo like this?

I've haven't had a problem with my 822 and GDR3 at all and I have a SD card installed.

Your SD card might be going off the deep end and could be the culprit.  Try removing it and see if at least the volume control behaves Smiley Happy

Like I said, I tried multiple cards. They all worked fine in my PC but not the phone.

I ended up doing a hard reset; problem appears to have resolved itself. Would have been nice to know exactly what caused it so I can watch for it in future.

Because it's a Nokia.

You ever watch transformers? Apparently Nokia's are the worst Smiley Happy

Smiley Sad The first cell phone I ever owned was a Nokia 3310 on Cingular. That thing was a beast; I even drove over it one dark and snowy night, came back to find it an hour later, and it was still in perfect condition. Lasted me another two years until AT&T engulfed Cingular and turned off the old phones.
