Re-Activation

I currently use an iPhone 6, or was, and then I activated my old slide phone because I wanted something more rugged for a couple of days. Now I can't figure out how to re-activate my iPhone 6. Help!

Help is here! It should be pretty simple to re-activate your phone. When you sign in through My Verizon there is a section that will allow you do so. Was it active on this line for a little while? If yes, you should be able to pick the device when trying to re-activate the phone. Please let us know if you have any additional questions/concerns. Thanks.

So, my understanding was one of the advantage of The Edge program was NOT having an early termination fee. But come to my surprise, I was told by an customer representative that, in order to terminate my contract, I've to pay the full price of the phone (which I'm okay with) and additional $350 for 'an early termination fee'. I find this very assured and very misleading from what I was told in the store to sing up in the first place. I see the same thing I'm facing is mentioned here in previous discussions and I'm trying to find a definate answer. It's sad my time with Verizon is coming to an end AFTER 15 years of being a loyal customer.

DWend,

Allow me to clarify this matter here. With the Edge program you do not have a "service agreement" meaning, you do not have to keep the selected phone for 2 years. Should you decide to cancel service before the 2 years is up, you will have to pay for the remaining cost of your device that you have put on the Edge plan. However, you will NOT have to pay an Early Termination Fee ($350) for that line. We would hate to see you leave after 15 years. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns regarding this. Thank you.

Is there anyway you can look at my account? Because it seems like I'm getting better answer here than calling  custimer service.

First thank you re quick reply,

In regards to the early activation fee, I was told that I'll be subjected to that fee. This is very concerning for me and tons of posts I've seen in the discussion part of the segment. Btw, are you able to see my account? I've a quick question that I wasn't able to get an answer earlier?

There is no such thing as an "early activation fee". What are you really referring to?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I'm sorry, I'm meant to say "early cancelation fee". I was told by a verizon customer service (via phone last night), beside buying out the device I bought in edge program (pay the remaining $650), I'm also obligated to pay $350 for terminating my "2 years commitment with verizon". My understanding was the edge program didn't have a contact that can ultimately force you to stay with Verizon for a certain period of time. And I need to find out if that's is indeed true.

DWend,

Apologies if you have gotten conflicting information. While on Edge, you do not have a service agreement and will not be subject to Early Termination Fees. The only thing that you are responsible for is the remaining Edge payments, should you choose to cancel your services before the Edge payments have been exhausted. Thanks for allowing us to clarify.

Sandy,

First thank you for the explanation. As I mentioned earlier, I've been a Verizon customer for a very long time (15+ years), and the things that kept me this long with Verizon are: the service and the customer care... it was second to none. Lately, that has not been the case. As the number of treads indicate - the dialogs amongst your customers is very accurate. The story we get at the store or over the phone, and the number we see on the actual bill is completely different. I too, just like the many others who share the very same sentiment feel like I'm getting "ripped off" by a company who I was faithful customer fora very long time. Please keep in mind, most of us (verizon customers) are aware of that we're paying a bit more for the same service we can get else where, but things such as the ones I mentioned above is/was the reason we chose "stick around knowingly". But I believe my time has come. I've been trying to get an explanation why my bill jumped $83 per month for getting a iPhone 6 plus on one of my lines using the edge program. My understanding was (with the edge program); I'll get a $25 discount from the line access fee of $40, and I'll pay $9 insurance, $35 for the equipment, and of course taxes. Please note, this particular line was out of a contract so I was getting a $25 discount to begin with. From what I was told (upon getting the Edge on this line), I'd lose the $25 discount for not being in the contract, but I'll get $25 for being on the Edge... give and take, which will even things out. To make a long story short, I'm yet to get a proper explanation about my account. I requested countless inquiries to get an explanation of the price change ($83) I'm currently subjected too - unfortunately no luck!

At this point, my I don't have the will or the energy to fix this. And even if I do, it seems like I'm not getting the help I need. I called number of times, asked to speak to a supervisor and I wasn't able to do that. I asked for a follow up, again, no luck on that. Anyways, I wasn't planning to get a new phone, but with Sprit cut your bill in half, I'm getting 3 new phones all my lines and still save some change. It's just sad how I end my service like this.

Dwend,

We definitely do not want to end our long term relationship. We want to make sure we work on a resolution together. Did you possibly change your data plan when doing the Edge?

No, I didn't change anything. I'm on the same plan for more than a year.

Well, I don't know about an $83/month increase in your bill, but it certainly appears it should be at least $44/month increase.

When did you purchase the phone on Edge? Normally, tax on the full retail value on the phone purchased is paid either at the point of purchase OR on the first bill after purchase. This amount IS NOT spread out over the term of the Edge payments. If you have only had 1 bill since making the Edge purchase AND you did not pay the tax at the point of purchase, it is possible the tax is what brought your bill up to an $83 increase. Of course your subsequent bills would only be ~$44/month in increase from your old amount, down from the $83 increase of your first bill after the Edge purchase.

This is my second bill. The first bill was $296 including the tax. My second bill is $238. Keep in mind, I was paying $155 prior to the change. I've more than 6 moth worth of payment receipts to prove how much I was paying on my end. I'm sure u guys can pull my account and verify first hand. No change in plan, nothing extra. Actually, I took the insurance on my other two phones to lower my bill.

Well, I would certainly compare the itemization on your last 2 bills with the itemization on your previous bills to determine where the extra increase is coming from.

From comparing these new bills with the old bills, you can see what has changed to warrant the additional $39 increase.

It was active on my line, for about 4 months. Will I be able to activate it through My Verizon if I am not an account manager? Because I am not able to find this option.

Happy to assist! Account Managers will have this option via My Verizon. I've provided a link here on how to change swap devices:  http://vz.to/1jCZbVy
