Saw another thread ("powers off randomly") about this and no answers were ever posted.
Is there a solution? Phone has plenty of charge in the battery and works fine when it's powered on. It just powers off immediately when I close it.

Removed battery and reseated. The phone now seems to remain in the powered on state when I close the lid.
There is almost certainly some damage in it somewhere. The power stays on if I close the lid very gently.
