I know that all Verizon Wireless 4G LTE phones come with GSM and LTE unlocked. But that's not the case with other U.S. wireless carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile. Hence, I rather purchase an iPhone from Verizon Wireless than from AT&T Wireless or T-Mobile.
But I will no longer purchase any non-iPhone smartphones from Verizon since Verizon simply drags its heels in providing timely O.S. updates to users of their Window Phones and Android smartphones, compared to other wireless providers like AT&T and T-Mobile.
So the next Windows Phone I'll purchase will most likely be from AT&T Wireless (and not Verizon) since AT&T simply provides better support to their Windows Phone users.
You may think so but how many ATT windows phones have Denim right now? Do you also comprehend that Verizon updates take longer because of the difference in the chip in the phone? Hence the reason not all phones can move between carriers.
If you want to be an apologist for Verizon, go right ahead. But I'm not buying it.
This isn't an isolated instance. Verizon has always been slower than AT&T and T-Mobile in pushing out O.S. updates to existing customer phones, be it Windows Phones or Android phones.
Verizon has the resources to push out the updates faster, but it deliberately chooses not to. So next time I'm in a market for a Windows Phone or Android smartphone, I'll look elsewhere. I'll only stay with Verizon if I choose to upgrade to a new Apple iPhone.
But other cellular providers provide better and faster support to the alternate smartphone platforms (Android and Windows Phone).
Who says I'm leaving? If I choose an iPhone as my next smartphone, then I'll be sticking with Verizon for the reasons I already had stated.
(It's only if I decide to go with an Android phone (very unlikely) or a new Windows Phone (a possibility) that I'll leave Verizon.)
Those are the reasons they will never change peter, they don't have to cause people will just switch the device not the carrier. Trust me, money talks louder than any voice.
I agree that it is a slap in the face for ICON users to have to wait for 8.1/Denim update. Being someone who came from ATT, yes they do seem to update their "flagships" first, but still they are not any better with their timeliness of getting the updates pushed. I have had the 900, 820 and 920 on ATT until coming to Verizon in July '14. Trust me.. they are not any better with releasing updates and/or any promises of anything.
Like everyone else I am just so mad at Verizon, I don't even feel like logging on here and dealing with the trolls.
Good news is I guess it is saving me money since I can't buy "the band" until I get 8.1, maybe MS will have the 2nd version of the band released by the time I get 8.1.
I am in talks with other couriers, something I had never dreamed of before this fiasco, taking the entire company to a new courier is looking more and more possible.
