Speaker / Mic issues on 928

My first 928 had its ear speaker totally die so I had it replaced.  Now my second one seems to have an audio problem as well.  The confusing thing is it might be software issue and not just hardware issue.  One part is the volume is not consistent at all and if I move the phone and shake it or tap back speaker it changes volume.  The second part is the sound will just stop working at all or stop responding to volume controls.  If I play something else like going from podcasts to music it seems to reset it but other times I have to soft reset phone to get it working again.  Anyone have any ideas or should I just swap it again?

Hi cneal,

Let's explore options to resolve these issues! With sound and display issues, sounds like a replacement http://vz.to/uyYF0o might be necessary. Since we are unable to evaluate visual issues via phone or online, please visit a Verizon Wireless store http://bit.ly/3SdsA for a hands on evaluation.

Let's get this fixed, hoyty. Is this happening in a particular area or location? Zip code?  Do you have a protective case and/or protective display cover on the device? If so, please remove and retest. Also, I ask that you make sure you're not covering one of the three microphones on the phone. They're located as follow: Top of the phone, right side the USB port; Back of the phone, above the Xeon flash; Bottom of the display, below the Windows menu.

Just swap it again.  I am on my 3rd 928 and it is doing it again.  I think the only fix is to never use headphones.

I'm having the same issues on my phone. I coped with it a while by switching to speaker mode when the issue cropped up — annoying, but workable. Now my screen's going dark during calls.

You can find numerous other threads here and elsewhere where others are experiencing the same problems. It seems like I need a replacement but I'm reluctant to get the same phone if it's likely to have this issue again.

I just had the same thing happen to me.  After getting my THIRD 928, everything went wrong after unplugging my headphones.  It's as if the phone still thinks there are headphones attached.

Off to the store to get yet another replacement.
