Using an update; not yours on the WP7 phone

My wife is eligible for an update with $30 discount. I have one also but would like to save it for later in the year. Can I use her update and activate it with my number? I don't see any reason why not but would like some confirmation.

Thanks from Arizona

You can absolutely do this. The lingo that the reps use is "alternate upgrade". Their system is actually set up explicitly to allow these sorts of transactions, no swapping needed.

I didn't quite do this, but did something similar...  When I got married, I moved my wife's account onto mine, since I had a corporate discount, then we gave her son her old phone, and got her a new phone.  Her son is on our account.  It was no problem switching phone numbers between phones.  I'd go into the store, tell them what you want to do, and I'm sure they'll be able to do it.

Thanks, I'll do that on the 12th when the WP7 HTC Trophy is available. I would like to save my update until the Nokia WP7 phones come out late 11 or early 12.
