Verizon Turned down all LTE WP7 Devices!

Looks like more news today on the WP7 news front:

http://wmpoweruser.com/verizon-was-in-the-running-for-a-lte-windows-phone-but-turned-it-down/

Verizon turned down the option to have a LTE handset, and the 710 is ALL we are getting until at least next fall when Windows Phone 8 comes out.  Bad news for us.

ATT is now our only choice.

I can't wait till fall of next year for good windows phone :smileysad:  So come March/April of next year I'll be moving my wife's phone and mine to at&t.

VZW you had a loyal customer and was very forgiving in waiting for you to get a decent windows phone for the last few months and you have epically failed and let me down.

You're nothing but two faced, specifically Marni Walden.  First you claim that lack of LTE was the reason why you not carrying any high end WP7 phones.  Then your offered an LTE device and you turn your nose up on it....

 Marni Walden said:

For Verizon, the biggest problem with Windows Phone is the lack of support for LTE. Microsoft has said it would add LTE support, but hasn’t been specified as to when.

“We’ve communicated to Microsoft that LTE is critical to us,” she said. “We need to see a timeline that makes sense if we want to continue to represent them.”

I just hope this is all but a rumor....

Well, it looks like it is time to kiss VZW good-bye. I have been with VZW for many years. Too bad they don't care about customer wants. **bleep** soon as I can move to big blue I will look hard an changing. I guess that VZW figures that the loss of WP customers is not significant enough to impact the bottom line.  We shall see................

I hope the article isn't true because it simply shows Verizon agenda to not allow competition.  The only reason they probably are releasing ANY windows phones is to keep customers (not me anymore if the rumors are true), and keep clear of any bad press denoting that they are being biased against any platforms except Android and iOS.

My contract is up in about a year.  Because I'm so upset, I may just jump ship to AT&T early.  I'll miss my unlimited data plan, but it would be a small price to pay for a nice phone from AT&T.

Step Up Verizon!

I'm going to wait just a little longer, but even my wife, who's non-technical is getting fed up and asked me today to dump Verizon in order to get us both new phones.  (And we've been with Verizon since they were Bell Atlantic Mobile...)

OT: Nice of VZW to delete all the replies after the community upgrade.  A spectacular job as always  Looks like they're slowly restoring the threads...

I pray this is a rumor being I haven't seen much of this statement in other tech sites.  Reading the comments from here,http://www.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-710-heading-verizon-no-lte-love that VZW turned down the LTE came from an anonymous source (not creditable).  So there is a slight hope on 1/9 Smiley Happy

Exactly what I was thinking.  Verizon's business practices should alwaytd be scrutinized.  I think they felt the heat of their bullsheet 2.00 payment fee and also not getting any LTE devices lined up (I pray it's not true though).  I'd hate to give up my grandfathered unlimited plan and jump to ATT for the Ace (but they know that).  Throwing a non-LTE device (the 710) bone to it's customer's after spouting they wouldn't want any non-LTE devices with Windows Phone is insulting.  Verizon may have the best coverage BUT THEY SUCK at everything else!!!

I've been out of contract for 3 months and was hoping that early 2012 that I'd be able to pick up a 2nd generation WP7 on Verizon, but doesn't seem like the case.   Played with the Titan at AT&T and I'm quite impressed.  I'll wait another 2 months, but if I don't hear anything at that point I'm jumping ship.  I'm not waiting a year or whatever to get a WP7 phone.

I am with you guys.  I have been patient and waited for Verizon to pick up a higher end windows phone for a long time...so far nothing!  I have been following Nokia closely and have know for some time that they were coming out with 4G LTE.  When Verizon said they would not carry new WP until they had LTE I trusted them to kep their word.  I hope they do and we hear something at CES.

Please keep your word and give us a better WP.  I too am strongly considering leaving Verizon for AT&T,  Smiley Sad  WP will not grow if it is not supported.  I have an android phone, my wife has and android phone and I know Verizonb really wants me to like android phones...but I am sorry I can't.  They let us down way too often.  I have no desire to convert my whole digital life to Apple as their products require...

So what does that leave?  Windows phone!  I love it!  I want a better offering.  Please give us one! Smiley Happy

Just saw an article from a few days ago - http://www.winsupersite.com/blog/supersite-blog-39/windowsphone75/exclusive-microsofts-lte-plans-win...

Looks like Verizon won't have any LTE phones for a while....

I too am disappointed.

We’ve communicated to Microsoft that LTE is critical to us,” she said

This is what Marni Walden actually said, "blah blah blah"

I'm the happy owner of an HTC Trophy, but it's just a bit small for my fingers. I waited months and months before finally deciding to give the Trophy a try.  Again, I love it, but want something bigger.

I was hoping Verizon would surprise us and be part of the 900 launch, but at this point I have no confidence in Big Red doing anything with Windows Phone.

So...when the 900 hits AT&T I'm going to pick one up "on trial" and if I can get even decent reception where I live, my money and business will go to AT&T.  The only reason I have not done this yet is the phone I really want has not hit yet (the Nokia 900) and my daughter tells me that all her friends with AT&T get no reception in our area.  Time to put that to the real test.  If it really is horrible, I'll have to return the phone and will be stuck with Verizon.  But, if it is not that bad, my business and then each of my 3 other family lines, plus mobile broadband for a laptop, will one by one move to AT&T.

This decision by Verizon does not make sense.  Anyone with half a brain how sits down with a Windows Phone and compares to other phones out there knows it's at least as good of a product if not better.  To not offer their customers, and to allow their sales folks to miss-lead and not provide all options to its customer base is very poor service.

Can't wait to see when the 900 will be available.

Over the past few weeks, I've been having fun visiting different Verizon Wireless stores around my area and walking in if I happen to see one.  Out of all the stores, I have found only two sales people that even knew there was such a thing as a Windows Phone and today.... I actually ran into a Verizon sales person that used one (although he also had a Droid too.)

So, out of the different stores that I went into, and the 2-3 people that I talked with in each store.... only one person had any real knowledge of the Windows Phone....

Of course, nobody could / would tell me what's going on with Verizon & Windows Phones and the possible future of them, but it is quite telling when they have over a dozen Android phones and only one Windows Phone (and then blame Microsoft for not making more.)
