Verizon has failed

This whole fiasco with the Lumia Icon update is not resolved for me. Glad to have it, but Verizon botched this one. Once my contract is up, I'm gone. ver

Bottom line: Verizon should have never agreed to be Windows Phone carrier.

Do tell...

You know this is the Denim (for Lumia devices) and Windows Phone 8.1.1 update which Microsoft just released recently. VZW opted not to release Cyan/Windows Phone 8.1 and go straight to DenimWindows Phone 8.1.1 and it was poor PR for VZW not to inform their customers of their decision.  You're dealing with executives from the stone age and don't understand or care to understand about what information customers are asking and provide that information.  Plus VZW customer service folks are a clueless bunch; giving out inconsistent information to their customers constantly.

Granted the Icon should have gotten Denim before the 822 and the 928 but for whatever reason be it a Microsoft issue or VZW we'll never know.

Now I'm seeing the outcry from AT&T folks on where's their Denim update....  So you have two choices go to AT&T or stick with VZW.  Sprint and T-Mobile are even more pitiful with Windows Phone devices.

Something to keep in mind on this Denim update on the Icon compared to the 822/928. The changes to the Icon were more significant than the older phones. So it was easier to release Denim for these phones first. While the firmware for those phones contained some changes, the Icon got Hey Cortana, significant updates to the camera and video, updates to audio recording, and other improvements. Firmware updates are device specific. Some devices require more programming and testing to get the final version out. Although I was frustrated that VWZ and MS did not communicate that Cyan was going to be combined with Denim for the Icon and other Lumias on VZW, I am glad that it was released and that it was done after testing. The excuse that VZW gave about wanting their native apps worked after the update was just a delay tactic. Be straight with us.

Future note for VZW and MS, communicate your plans. You don't need to give specific dates, just tell us that the update is being worked on. We can wait it out if we know that it is coming rather that getting confusing and conflicting information from customer service, store sales people, third party web sites, etc.

Really?  The guy has an Icon and you have to ask what his issue is?  Have you seen the posts on here about the Icon?

How ironic the VZ rep wants to help now you have 8.1, where was the info while everyone was trying to figure out what VZ was doing and why 8.1 wasn't first on the Icon.

Yes, it was a long and frustrating wait. Particularly due to Verizon's lack of transparency about the he schedule. But it's here now. Everybody needs to take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy it now that 8.1 is here. And truthfully, it's not all that. The camera improvements are neat but that's the biggest change. If you were pining for Cortana the DP would have given it to you a long time ago. I guess some people just want to be mad at VErizon. **sigh**
