As I'm certain many others who bought this phone are, I am increasingly irritated that Verizon has not released the Windows 8.1 update.
When will it be release? Early 2015 is not an acceptable answer.

Completely agree, but I doubt very seriously if Verizon will provide a date, if any. Verizon doesn't care about Windows Phone users. That is something that is quite OBVIOUS! I'm trying to give Verizon the benefit of the doubt because I like my Icon, but if AT&T receives the Denim update for the 1520 before Verizon releases if for the Icon, I'm dumping Verizon for good! Suggest you, and all other Windows Phone users do the same!

That is unfortunate. Since we have a family plan for our service, dumping Verizon is not an option. I am considering changing to the HTC 1 (M8), but don't want to make the investment if indeed the Lumia will be updated soon.

"Early 2015" is the best answer you are going to get. I suggest that it is less stressful to accept what is rather than reject it. Taking the stance of "not acceptable" for something like this does nothing but disturb your peace of mind.
Really though, to me it is very good news in the sense that we now know we WILL eventually be getting 8.1, Cyan, and Denim. Verizon has made no official statement at all about this. Now we have Joe Belfiore specifically telling us MS is working with Verizon to get the update out and it will come for the ICON. Not as informative as we would like, but much better than what we had before!

I don't see how this is any different than when Verizon stated we would be getting Cyan "soon" just after the phone was released nearly a year ago...

Sorry penterax, but I can't agree with you. Good news would be "the update has been approved and released by Verizon and you can start downloading it now." We have been duped by Microsoft and Verizon already when they stated we would be receiving Cyan update "soon." And in case you haven't noticed, all Icon users are STILL on Lumia Black!
I won't "celebrate" an "Early 2015" releast announcement until I actually see it downloading onto my phone and given the history of the updates for this phone, I think I speak for a LOT of Verizon customers when I say, we are well within our rights to be SKEPTICAL!

Agreed. Verizon and Microsoft have delivered nothing but empty promises.
I will be shocked if we ever see an update for this phone.

If we don't see an update for this phone, it will be Verizon's loss of my account. If AT&T gets Denim update for the 1520 before Verizon releases it for the Icon, then bye-bye VZW!

Denim rolling out for some handsets on O2...
http://wmpoweruser.com/o2-uk-to-approves-lumia-denim-520-620-625-720-and-1320/
Hoping Verizon and Microsoft have this done before the 21st.

Verizon's non-response is unprofessional -- not what you'd expect from one of the 20 largest firms in the U.S. Verizon should not have continued to sell the Icon if they were not prepared to support it.

Their "non-response" as you call is standard practice for all the carriers to protect themselves from legal action.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Where is the Lumia Icon Denim update? The question should be "Why is Verizon pushing out the Lumia Icon Denim update when Nokia (Microsoft) produce the hardware?" Nokia - Microsoft should be updating the Lumia Icon firmware NOT Verizon!!!!! Microsoft (Nokia) manufactured the Icon hardware not Verizon! If you buy a computer the manufacturer (DELL, etc.) provides the Bios (Firmware) for the hardware. Something very wrong going on when Verizon is supplying the firmware update. They could be injecting code into the firmware for a backdoor!!! Just saying...

Dell buys bare bones from Asus and Lenovo. They reband updates to make it look like it comes from them. Just a little tidbit of information (no pun intended).

Somewhat true. Dell contracts with outside venders for motherboards, etc. but Dell supplies the Bios updates regardless who built the part. Plus if you purchased your Dell from MicroCenter, Fry's or Newegg, DELL still supplies the updates not the reseller of the device. Again why is Verizon supplying the Denim update for a Nokia (Microsoft) manufactured device?

No Jim the bios comes from the bare bones. Load up your bios and you'll see no dell branding on it. The splash screen for the bios may say Dell, but the whole thing isn't from Dell. The BIOS is ALWAYS from the bare bones manufacturer.

Tidbits, even if Dell does not do the coding for the Bios on their motherboard they are the manufacturer of Dell computers and the end user does not have to update their Dell computer from FoxConn, SuperMicro, Asus, Acer, etc. the firmware is still supplied from Dell no matter who the end user purchased their Dell computer from. Now if the Icon was branded "Verizon Icon" maybe they should be updating their phone. But the Icon is branded Microsoft (Nokia). Regardless of who supplied the mainboard to Nokia the firmware should come from the manufacturer who assembled and branded the not Verizon. .

You just proved something... You actually DO update from FoxConn, SuperMicro, Asus, Acer, etc. If they don't produce an update and isn't approved by Dell then you will not get those updates. It's no different than Nokia making the update and then Verizon testing it to make sure it works.
Dell tests the updates and then releases them It is no different than what Verizon is doing.

How do you know this to be true? I'M a premier partner with Dell and that's not my understanding about the total process. Plus Verizon is still just a reseller of the Nokia Icon phone. Verizon had no investment in the manufacturing process with Microsoft or Nokia, what's even more confusing about Verizon is that Apple pushes out updates for iPhone not Verizon. The iPhone is resold on the Verizon network and Verizon gets no approval of the update from Apple. Go figure...

I deal with manufacturers on a daily level and we build and manufacturer our own computers to use much like Dell. We also resell them to the USM across the pacific rim. We do the same thing Del does. What you do is the same thing BestBuy would do.

Verizon not testing the iPhone is bull... They do test them. Join ADC and you'll find out. Said this MULTIPLE times. Apple waits until ALL their devices have been approved and push them all at once. Other manufacturers don't wait and push out ad they are approved.

OK, seems you are in the know more than me. You tell me what the problem is with Verizon not pushing out the Nokia Icon 929 Cyan or Denim update from Microsoft.
