The 920 is (was) not AT&T's flagship device, so I can undestand them taking a long time to get the update out to that phone (although 9 months is rediculous).  The Icon is Verizion's FLAGSHIP Windows Phone!  AT&T ALREADY released the WP8.1 Cyan update to their FLAGSHIP phone (Lumia 1520) but Verizion (as usual) has yet to release the WP8.1 Cyan update for the Icon!  Also, AT&T recently announced that they will now support DataSense due to the high demand for it by WP users.  See, just goes to prove that if enough people complain, you CAN get a company to change - so START COMPLAINING ABOUT VERIZON UPDATES TAKING TOO LONG!

If you sell the device you should support the device. There is not reason even if it isn't a flagship to take long to support their products. The 920 is no different in terms of specs to other "flagships" to make it difficult to take 9 months for support.

It also goes back to my original response.

The Nokia 920 WAS their flagship device when I bought it a year and a half ago. But once others came out after it I guess it was thrown to the side.

I wasn't going to upgrade to a phablet and for that reason, I guess I don't deserve updates in a timely manner.

8.1 Cyan has been out there for a l-o-n-g time now.  There's been a good 2 weeks worth of stories about the release on just about every Web Technology Pub out there.  Verizon Customers can only read and look at screen shots.  No updates for any of the Verizon Windows Phones.

There are options.  One of the options shared on this Forum is the Windows Phone Developer Preview.  It's easy to join and the Developer Preview Team has already released 8.1 GDR 1 before Verizon has even gotten around to pushing out 8.1 Cyan.  8.1 GDR 1 is a small but respectable update that adds folders to your tiles and a new Xbox Music.

Another option is to seek assistance from the FCC.  Let's review below some regulations that the FCC put on Verizon alone, as a result of customer complaints.  Yes, complaints that came in on complaint forms - where categories like "bait and switch" weren't even a category to select from.  Much like cellular telephone software updates.

Be sure to click into the bottom 2 Website links as well.  You will see that the spirit of the FCC is to collect customer complaints to offer assistance or protection with consumer related issues.  Again, like owning an expensive cell phone that is not being upgraded.  No one is saying that not providing an update is illegal and no one is saying that your Verizon contract stated that they don't have to.  What your complaint is saying that you are a consumer who pays Verizon a significant amount of $$$ for your device and service and that you expect more.  The same sort of complaint that customers made before shady billing practices were commonplace.  The same type of complaint customers made before bait and switch practices with plans and devices were common.  It may not specifically be a complaint category and no one is saying it is illegal.  But what a volume of complaints do say is that there are customers who are seeking some kind of resolution to their phone update challenges.  It can be an FCC fix.  It can be a Verizon fix.  It can be a Microsoft fix.  No one out here with a Windows Phone really cares at this point.  Customers are just looking for some kind of change, just like the customers who got ripped off from shady billing practices or the customers who fell victim to a carrier bait and switch program.  And if I had any money to bet, I would bet that back then, the customers who complained about billing and bait/switch programs were all told that the FCC wouldn't do anything for them either.

www.fcc.gov/complaints  As another forum member wisely stated a few days ago, there's more of a chance for change by filing a complaint then there is by sitting around doing nothing.

Burden of proof is on you guys. If the FCC is still going through their process then you guys are doing nothing but spinning your wheels for nothing. I wish all of you the best of luck as I have not seen any evidence showing it has passed FCC certification. Just because someone other device gets the update makes it proof Verizon is withholding anything.
