I never said I hated Microsoft. I said I don't like the constant "Update/patch Tuesdays" big difference.

I also said " I don't think windows phone users will want to go through the same thing as patch/update Fridays"

Why trust that this may not happen. Their track record shows it to be possible.

I own many Windows 8.1 machines both desktop and laptops. So I know what I say is true.

I own iMac and 5 idevices so I don't hate any technology.

Now you are saying I am holding to Verizon's line as to it being right to trick customers with promises but in reality wanting them to sell newer devices. Again that is incorrect.

I don't deny your right to complain or be upset. I don't deny that the way updates get/don't get done is something that should be better handled.

However, being devils advocate from the first reply I have made to another poster saying complain to the FCC I pointed out "there is nothing they or any agency can do" I wrote the truth. However my truth was set upon like a rabid dog to a bone. Yes the windows phone owners may feel they have a right to complain, but complain to the right people.

Call and keep calling the device makers or in this case Microsoft. If these companies have no clout then there is a bigger problem going on here. Constantly having these gripes being posted over and over on a help forum is not doing any good

Another poster here said Verizon didn't even know they had such a forum. Now that has to make you wonder.

Another poster claims first speaking to some guy named Joe at Microsoft, another said a high up executive at Microsoft and even official Verizon support only replies to a email alert page for updates.

And there still is no updates. No official word from any party. That is why I post. If you and others want to spinning your wheels then continue to do so.

I don't have anything against the poster, I do take offense at having my right to try and get my points heard.

I take offense at being labeled this or that, and the dumb just ignore them psychology which by the way has no effect.

You can ignore my posts but you cannot ignore the truth. This is not swaying or moving that update one iota.

But its your phone you do what you must.

Have a nice evening.

Every operating system gets updates, some like Microsoft's are plainly announced and scheduled.  Scheduling is important to computer administrators so they can plan on getting them done.  Some are more timely Microsoft does theirs monthly unless the threat is great enough to warrant pushing them sooner.  Some OS's do theirs with great fanfare calling it the greatest thing yet like OS8 (which got pulled) or VERY quietly so the user does not know there was a bug.  Some NEVER announce unless you pay for support (like Redhat and some others) and even then some bugs will remain like the current BASH bug.  That one has waited 25 YEARS to get patched!  If I was like you I would never want to update but since I have to keep my machines bug free I want the latest updates especially if there are bug fixes.  There are several bug fixes in Cyan and in Windows 8.1.  Some of the other stuff like the camera or Bluetooth have little value to me.  Cortana or whatever it is called has some interest as I would like a way to use my phone to help me keep track of thing that are just difficult for me to keep track of.  Will it work WHO knows not me but yeah I want to test it and see if it will work.  Just so you know I am not totally happy with Patch day either but for a different reason.  I have to keep a number of machines patched and it is sometimes hard to schedule the time to get them in.

Of course not...  That's the mindset we americans have.  I mean if we put this kind of effort into something trivial we could solve some of our countries greatest problems...  Yet we'd rather have someone else do it for us, and if it doesn't happen they'll voice their displeasure...  Sounds familiar?

Well, it would appear that Tidbits and Elector are WRONG!  Looks like complaining can accomplish something after all.  I spoke last night with Jenay from Verizon Tier 2 Tech support and Kyle (female) from Microsoft Windows Phone Support Division in a conference call.  I was informed that the Lumia Cyan firmware update has been approved by Verizon and should begin to be pushed out shortly.  They said that it will be pushed out in batches so not everyone will receive it at once, but all devices should receive the update "by the end of the month".  Whether that means September or October they would not clarify.

Sorry to prove you wrong Tidbits and Elector.

Have a nice day!

Why don't "we" wait until it is firmly on your device before you say anyone is wrong.

I was reading this morning some piece on PC World or CNET of a possible October send out date.

But what you keep failing to understand before you take your bows is "nothing" you have done with complaining generated that update to arrive any faster.

There is another poster on one of these windows threads stated he spoke to someone who also claimed October 2014.  The reasons he gave was something about that HTC device having to be pushed out, and the fact the holiday shopping season is approaching. Both explanations I believe have merit.

And while you are jumping up and down just remember no one ever said you should not get the updates, just that you and others had no reason to file with the FCC or any other agency since the carriers are not compelled to by law or regulation to push them out.

But let's hope your conference call is correct. October is just around the corner.

Good Luck

Have a nice day also.

"But what you keep failing to understand before you take your bows is "nothing" you have done with complaining generaged that update to arrive any faster."

And just what proof to you have to support that statement?  What evidence to you have to show that Verizon wasn't planning to withhold the Cyan and release Denim instead?  What documents can you show that support the statement that our complaining and FCC complaints didn't convinced Verizon that it is better to release the Cyan update now and then the Denim once it is completed?  Perhaps the tech support people got tired of receiving so many complaints.  Perhaps Verizon grew weary of reading all the articles all over the internet about the slow release of updates on Verizon.  Perhaps VZW didn't want AT&T to start using the lack of update as an advertisement issue given the enormous about the compaints by VZW customers, not just on this forum, but all over the internet.

So unless you actually work for Verizon and have "proof" that our "complaints" had "nothing to do with generating the update," you sir are not "stating facts" as you so claim to ALWAYS post!

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Also, while you may not have actually stated "we should not get the updates..." your constant obsessive responses to our complaints leans strongly towards the implication.   If you really don't believe that we shouldn't receive the update, then why are you and Tidbits fighting so strongly to justify Verizon's part in the delayed release?  Your actions speak way louder than your words.

Let's say your complaint did no good, OK I cannot prove positive that it didn't.

However you in reverse cannot prove it did. Sort of speculation on both parties.

To state carriers (Verizon in this case because I am a customer) don't have to update if they don't want to based on no laws or regulations is factual. You searched yourself and agreed with me.

So actions do not speak volumes. I based my replies on fact. To prove me incorrect you have to show me that law or regulation. You cannot so I rest on my statements.

Now since you keep lumping me in with Tidbits just what has he said that is incorrect? He said the testing process takes a very long time for varied reasons. He said updates in Europe are done quicker both statements he back up with proof. So he did not lie to you or the others.

The main crux has been when confronted with proof the defensive lines come out. I can say Verizon has to give me a 5% rebate for paying in full and on time. But no matter how I say it, or complain that I am entitled to it just does not make it so. Because there is no regulation or law that says they have to. Its that simple.

Trust me like the other poster earlier it is a pain doing all these updates. I believe if it isn't broke there is no need to fix it. But in his case he has to insure updates and patches are done. I can see his point it makes sense.

Then about an hour ago 5 idevices popped up with yet another iOS 8.0.2 update to fix an update. Its a never ending cycle.

You have a nice afternoon!
