While I agree that Microsoft has to do  better with marketing in North America and making phones for all carriers, it is not just Microsoft's fault. Particularly  when is comes to Verizon. They passively do not support Windows Phone. As noted in this and other threads, stores across the US don't push the Windows Phone and then even try to persuade people away from Windows Phone. I even had an experience where I knew Lumia Phones where literally in the Store stock and none of the Sales Reps of the store knew about the phone or that they were selling it. The Store Manager knew about the phone and knew they were in stock and reluctantly sold me a couple after let him know I knew they had them. There are hundred of stories like this all over the US concerning Verizon. If they have stock left over, its their fault. Windows Phone will sale if people are told about it. On the day I spoke about above, I got the attention of several people who heard me speak of the then Lumia 928 and 3 people asked to buy them too because they didn't know about the phone and did not necessarily want to buy the iphone or Android phone. Just saying......

That's not NEARLY enough to make it worth while for Verizon to sell and support a new WP device. It's not up to Verizon to market one operating system or another. Verizon just sells 'em. It really is up to Microsoft to make a compelling product and get the word out. When everybody is clamoring for Android and iOS, you don't try to change their minds if you're Verizon - you sell them what they want.

Would you ask Dell to push Linux as an operating system on new laptops? They offer it, but they don't push it. Because it's not Dell's job to push Linux.

I'm not adding anything really new to the conversation, just adding my 2 bits.  Like many other posters, if VZW doesn't offer the newer flagship Microsoft phones (950XL and the eventual Surface phones) my family will be moving to ATT.  My Lumia 822 is one of the best phones (hardware wise and, for what it's worth the software has been reliable) and I expect the same from the next Microsoft (formerly Nokia) phone(s).  Microsoft unfailingly produced first rate hardware and are on the road to doing the same with their phones.  My Windows phone integrates easily with my desktop work, has all the apps (plus more) that I need for serious productivity, handles emails very well, and is reliable.  As a professional interested in productivity more than games, pictures and social apps my Windows phone is excellent.  So, to reiterate, I wouldn't have  a problem switching to ATT.  I have friends who have ATT (one who worked for the company for 30+ years) and I know their coverage in my areas is adequate.  I've traveled widely with friends who have ATT and except for some (not all) remote areas we seldom go to, their coverage is pretty much the same as VZW.  So switching over would not be a headache.  What I want is an excellent phone, a Microsoft model, and if VZW offers one then I stay and if they don't it's bye bye.

I think you missed the point. OK everyone forgive the off-topic explanation, but your example doesn't fit.  Dell is a dealer for its own product they are suppose to lead people to their own stuff. They will sell a Linux Server for an overall package system but its not the same as my earlier point. Verizon is not a dealer. It is a wireless carrier that sales various devices. Key word Various Device  It would be a like a auto sales business that sold different cars but kept the BMW's in the back and didn't tell its sales force or if people came and asked about the BMW's, the sales person would discourage the sale of the BMW and show them something else. If people new the BMW'S were there being sold, they'd buy them. Just treat Windows Phone fairly and let the sales speak for its self; good or bad. Teach & Inform the reps about Windows Phone like they do with iphone and Android devices. Place them out where they can been seen like everything else. Again the point; in the US, Windows Phone may not sale great on its own, but how would we really know if VZW is not allowing the phone to compete fairly. I think if it was treated like every other phone in Verizon's stores, it would hold its own. And to get back on topic. I will be getting the Lumia 950 XL.

Just wanted to add another voice to the chant. If verizon doesn't offer at least one of the new phones, I will no longer use verizon.

My family has been using verizon since before I had a phone, and at present I don't even pay for my phone. My father takes care of that, but if the new lumias aren't offered, then I will pay for my service on my own dime. That's how much it means to me to be able to have a windows phone.

I've owned androids, used iphones, and have even used the latest Samsung offerings in helping my parents with their own phones. Androids are fine, but they're not what I want out of a phone.

It's not complicated. Just give me a lumia.

There has been no mention of CDMA, but that it will be universal GSM. Which makes me strongly believe that Verizon won't get it. Which is fine. It's a good excuse for me to switch. There are cheaper and better plans out there. GSM is international too. It's really going to be a deal breaker for me if they don't carry the 950 or 950XL. I'm open to Android phones, but they've been a slight disappointment after hearing about the Nexus yesterday. I still want a removable battery.

For the record if CDMA is available Microsoft will sell it unlocked. It's really irrelevant if Verizon sells it directly. It's on Verizon to ask them for a CDMA version, but it's essentially Microsofts call to make it or not. I don't think it's happening though.

If the 950XL is not offered by Verizon I will be taking all 7 phone numbers to a carrier that offers what I want.  I get the feeling Verizon doesn't care about their users.  They have gotten too big and rich to worry about the end users and maybe they will care when they start losing market share.

I love my Lumia Icon, but I'm ready for a new phone. I'm still holding out for something that is actually comparable to it, not just the popular phone that Verizon wants to push on me. I hate AT&T, but if their poor service is the cost of a phone I love, I will pay it.

PS: I reported Verizon Wireless Customer Support  for that copy and paste response. Get out of here with that SPAM.
