I have owned and absolutely loved my Lumia 822 and now my Lumia 735. I have been waiting wit bated breathe for the Lumia 950 xl. I figure if the phones that I have been using for the last 2 1/2 years are considered mid level, then high end has to be off the hook. Now I read that VERIZON may not support a flagship WP 10 at all. If that is the case I would seriously consider switching carriers.

Just wanted to add another voice to the chant. If verizon doesn't offer at least one of the new phones, I will no longer use verizon.
My family has been using verizon since before I had a phone, and at present I don't even pay for my phone. My father takes care of that, but if the new lumias aren't offered, then I will pay for my service on my own dime. That's how much it means to me to be able to have a windows phone.
I've owned androids, used iphones, and have even used the latest Samsung offerings in helping my parents with their own phones. Androids are fine, but they're not what I want out of a phone.
It's not complicated. Just give me a lumia.

Verizon doesn't need to sell or support the 950 and 950xl. They just need to stop making MS lock out their bands and CDMA in both phones. The chipset supports Verizon's LTE bands and CDMA but are intentionally disabled in firmware.
Verizon has clearly told MS to do this or no deal with the carrier, because Verizon MUST allow any device on to LTE Band 13 per the agreement for nationwide on that band. (This is why the SIM in Verizon phones is unlocked) The only way to prevent people like us from bringing our own 950 and 950xl to Verizon and use it, was to get MS to disable it in firmware so it simply wouldn't work because the 808 and 810 chipset have native support and the antennas in both phones will handle Verizon bands without issue.
This is pure politics with Verizon, nothing more. MS needs to stand up and provide unlocked all carrier phones like both Google and Apple are doing ASAP and force Verizon to be the bad guy.

Interesting assertion about VZW demanding MSFT not make the Lumias compatible with VZW's network, which would directly violate the rules. I'm curious if you have anything to support this theory?

Thanks! You in NH by chance?
The reason I'm making the assertion is that the hardware supports CDMA and Band 13 natively (808/810 chipset). So for them to not be listed means that they're disabled in firmware by Microsoft.
The reason why they would have to be disabled and just have a note on the site that Verizon won't support the phones is because Band 13, by FCC auction rules is open. It cannot have SIM locked devices and must allow 3rd party devices on it. That's what Verizon agreed to when they won the auction. So if MS had the devices unlocked and supporting CDMA and Band 13 Verizon would be risking FCC action if they prevented the device from going on their network.
Thus since this is intentional on MS's part all you have to do is follow why. The only logical reason is that Verizon said either disable it or we won't negotiate to sell it. (They'll note doubt negotiate for their on variant with a stupid Verizon logo everywhere they possibly can have it.)

John there's more to it than just the radio. There's other hardware required. Yes the radio itself can transmit the frequenciess, but a radio itself alone isn't enough.

Which is why the antennas in the phone will easily support LTE Band 13 and already supports all of the rest of the bands.
The hardware has EVERYTHING it needs to support CDMA and LTE Band 13 on Verizon. This is Verizon being stupid and forcing MS to block it. How they're forcing MS to block it is open for discussion, but it's clear they're blocking it.
Why am I so sure? Go look at the Google Nexus 5x and 6P. Both have the same chipset and fewer antennas and both support Verizon and Sprint out of the box. Why? Because Google either worked with Verizon ahead of time and get they're blessing or said "Screw you" and enabled it anyhow and let Verizon be the bad guy preventing it on their network.
So I say again: MS is intentionally disabling CDMA and LTE Band 13 in the firmware. The only question is WHY?

No, I'm not in NH. If you are, then I'm actually closer to Galt's Gulch than you are though.:D A is A!
Can you please provide an authoritative link showing that the chipset supports Band 13? I haven't ran across it yet.

All current Qualcomm radio chips support all the spectrum. However there are other hardware that has to be considered. You can use Qualcomm tools to turn them on however the phone will not transmit nor receive said signal.
Then you also have to consider FCC regulation.

All of the current QUALCOMM chips are complete integrated sets. That means they include the baseband. When a chip includes the baseband, the antennas connect directly to the chip. This lowers power usage.
Given that the antennas 100% will work just fine for Band 13 (700 band C in old terminology and it already supports Band A and B in the 700 MHz block) it already has all of the hardware it needs.
As for the FCC there's no way that they blocked Band 13 and only band 13 but allowed all of the rest, and they have nothing to say about turning on CDMA in the chip.
Thus the firmware is disabling Band 13 and CDMA. QED

Negative sir go you at the FCC tramp stamps. FCC had to test the spectrum and pass the spectrum. Also you are wrong about the antenna and such being integrated. If you can get your hands on Qualcomm tools you will find out there is more required. When you look at the iphone, the HTC devices and even the Nexus devices they have antennas for a reason. Shoot look at every tear down of every device in the past 3 years when the "one in all solution was released"
If it was specifically on the cast itself then the RF shielding would be a bane for the device and cause fundamental design flaws, and could very well fail FCC testing easily.

They would have failed the entire phone. And yes, unlike most other designs including the IPhone, the Qualcomm 810's main claim to fame is that the baseband is integrated and thus hooks directly to the antenna. Most phones prior to the 80x series required a separate baseband for LTE (CDMA, GSM etc. was integrated) and thus drew way more power.
Given that the Nexus 5x and 6p use the same chipset and support it and NOTHING else is required to make it work, it's obvious that it's disabled in firmware.

Like I said get your hands on Qualcomm tools and you will see its not that simple is all I can say. It works for some phones but not all phones as there is more to it than that.

Colorado eh? (Canadian originally eh?)
See the specs here for CDMA compatibility proof: Snapdragon 810 Processors with X10 LTE Specs and Details | Qualcomm
Note the "Broad support"
Then go here: http://www.phonearena.com/news/Yes-the-Nexus-6P-and-Nexus-5X-will-work-on-Verizon-and-Sprint_id74239
Note that they both support Verizon and sprint. Why? Because they use the 808 and 810 chipsets which include the baseband. Given that it's the chip + antennas only, QED. (The reason QUALCOMM doesn't release the exact bands is because both chips are software upgradable to enable additional bands.)

I'm not adding anything really new to the conversation, just adding my 2 bits. Like many other posters, if VZW doesn't offer the newer flagship Microsoft phones (950XL and the eventual Surface phones) my family will be moving to ATT. My Lumia 822 is one of the best phones (hardware wise and, for what it's worth the software has been reliable) and I expect the same from the next Microsoft (formerly Nokia) phone(s). Microsoft unfailingly produced first rate hardware and are on the road to doing the same with their phones. My Windows phone integrates easily with my desktop work, has all the apps (plus more) that I need for serious productivity, handles emails very well, and is reliable. As a professional interested in productivity more than games, pictures and social apps my Windows phone is excellent. So, to reiterate, I wouldn't have a problem switching to ATT. I have friends who have ATT (one who worked for the company for 30+ years) and I know their coverage in my areas is adequate. I've traveled widely with friends who have ATT and except for some (not all) remote areas we seldom go to, their coverage is pretty much the same as VZW. So switching over would not be a headache. What I want is an excellent phone, a Microsoft model, and if VZW offers one then I stay and if they don't it's bye bye.

There has been no mention of CDMA, but that it will be universal GSM. Which makes me strongly believe that Verizon won't get it. Which is fine. It's a good excuse for me to switch. There are cheaper and better plans out there. GSM is international too. It's really going to be a deal breaker for me if they don't carry the 950 or 950XL. I'm open to Android phones, but they've been a slight disappointment after hearing about the Nexus yesterday. I still want a removable battery.

If the 950XL is not offered by Verizon I will be taking all 7 phone numbers to a carrier that offers what I want. I get the feeling Verizon doesn't care about their users. They have gotten too big and rich to worry about the end users and maybe they will care when they start losing market share.

I love my Lumia Icon, but I'm ready for a new phone. I'm still holding out for something that is actually comparable to it, not just the popular phone that Verizon wants to push on me. I hate AT&T, but if their poor service is the cost of a phone I love, I will pay it.
PS: I reported Verizon Wireless Customer Support for that copy and paste response. Get out of here with that SPAM.

Everyone seems to be spot on. I have been with Verizon a long time BUT I will be considering alternatives if they drop the windows phone devices. It's a shame they only offer 1 viable windows phone ( 8.1) now. The 930 isn't even available so I daubt that the 950 will be. I don't want to go to i phone and never will go back to android. I purchased 2 androids several years back, they were so bad that I wanted to return them but they talked me into trying a new one over and over until they would not take them back. I threw them away but at least after bitching at them for a year they gave me the 2 upgrades back. I have windows 10 installed on all my home computers and love it. I upgraded my 928 to window 8.1 over a year ago with 0 issues. neither nokia nor Verizon offer this upgrade to date. I really hope that Verizon listens to their customers and fixes their relationship with Microsoft for their own sake.
just my 2 cents

I really hope these phone are available on Verizon, I'm planning on getting the 950 for my wife and the 950xl for me, Our 928s are getting old. They need to start pay attention to the Windows Phone users, they don't even have the fios apps for windows phone...
