I have owned and absolutely loved my Lumia 822 and now my Lumia 735. I have been waiting wit bated breathe for the Lumia 950 xl. I figure if the phones that I have been using for the last 2 1/2 years are considered mid level, then high end has to be off the hook. Now I read that VERIZON may not support a flagship WP 10 at all. If that is the case I would seriously consider switching carriers.

Actually Verizon doesn't make iphone commercials that's all Apple when you buy in Apple makes the commercials. Even Samsung does the same. Verizon just advertises their network.

Well, I see VZW commercials all the time advertising that they have the latest iPhones.  Same with Sprint and AT&T.

Those are from Apple. They pay for them. It's part of carrying the iphone.

If Apple has so much power, why would they pay for those commercials?  Especially since you've talked about the carriers caving to Apple's demands?

I never said they didn't cave. I said Apple doesn't bypass the carriers. There's a difference. Apple goes through the exact same testing as all the other manufacturers. They do it through the ADC and they don't push out the updates when they finish. They sit and hold them until all is ready which gives the effect that it's timely.

Apple do make commercials. But so does Verizon.

Anything Apple relater is paid for by Apple. No money comes from the carriers. There was a long write up about it before Steve Jobs died iirc. Let me see if I can find it

Yes, the iPhone with the carrier ad is Apple, but Verizon commercials like Att Lillie Adams ads are all carrier. Not that this really matters much.

Awesome video, thanks for posting.  That guy knows what he's talking about and he is right on target.  I know this from my own experience:

1. Verizon removes the built in Visual Voicemail app from the Lumia icon then charges 2.99 per month for you to get it back.  Meanwhile they give iphone and android users free basic visual voicemail.  t-mobile and at&t also let you use the built in visual voicemail app for free.

2. The Lumia icon is the only Windows Phone that came with Verizon bloatware that couldn't be uninstalled.  I'm talking about the Verizon backup assistant.  No other carriers do this.

3. Verizon was literally one of the last carriers in the entire world to release the 8.1 update.

4. Verizon never put the lumia icon on display in any of their stores that I visited.

5. They discontinued the phone before it even had a chance to succeed.

No wonder Microsoft didn't offer the new phones to Verizon. Needless to say I will be moving our entire company away from Verizon and on to AT&T.  It's not very difficult to switch carriers at the same time as upgrading phones so I have no reason to stay.  Goodbye and good riddance.

2.  VZW Backup Assistance if not enabled is a small blip on the radar and it's a system utility which by default is uninstallable. Not really a concern for me.

3. Not true AT&T a few months ago rolled out 8.1 for one of their devices and not by doing an update but by doing it via Windows Device Recovery Tool (formally Lumia Recovery Tool), basically doing a hard reset to get the update.  You can check here, https://www.microsoft.com/en/mobile/support/software-update/lumia-software-availability-in-north-ame... States Of America  There are still some Lumia devices on AT&T that still haven't gotten Windows Phone 8.1 yet.  Actually I think VZW was the first carrier to get Denim in the US first while AT&T was still rolling out Cyan.

If I remember right, I believe the Verizon Wireless windows phones skipped Cyan altogether.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Yep, they decided to go straight to Denim.  They op'ed as always not to tell the customer so there was a nice size backlash here in the community on why VZW wasn't releasing Cyan

2. That's nice that bloatware doesn't concern you.  We don't want it on our phones so we'll go to ATT.  Plus as I mentioned, it's just one of many blips that equal an atomic bomb verizon has placed on Windows Phone.

3. Yes it's true.  The ATT lumia 920 and t-mobile 925 both older phones and both had WP 8.1 ages before Verizon finally released it on the icon.

You guys are right about Verizon skipping Cyan.  There were lots of ticked off users waiting for Cyan and it never came.  Then those users were ticked about Windows Phone 8.1 not being released on the icon.  Then finally after Denim was released and other devices were running 8.1 for many months, Verizon finally released WP 8.1 and Denim at the same time.

2. is subjective to the user, so don't include 'we'.  Have seen all the bloatware on droid devices?  I'll take one utility I cannot uninstall over many that are on droid devices.

3. AT&T released Denim to the 1520 on 2/26/2015 where as VZW did on 2/11/2015; 15 days earlier than AT&T.  TMobile started also on 2/26.

Enjoy AT&T

2. When I say we, I'm talking about the company I work for and yes I can speak for them because I manage all the devices.  I can't imagine anyone else wanting third party software on their device that they can't remove.  Bloatware is exactly one of the things I like about Windows Phones vs android.  Now we have to say Windows Phones have no bloatware...except for Verizon's.

3.  Why do you keep changing the subject to Denim?  I'm talking about WP 8.1 which was the huge update that brought features such as Cortana.

In addition, the only reason the icon had denim first was because everyone else released WP8.1 before Denim was even out!

Not changing the subject per-say, just have denim on the brain

You are correct that AT&T beat VZW to the punch on that.  It's a hit or miss with the carriers when it comes to releases.  Hopefully Microsoft can successfully by-pass the carriers with updates with Windows 10 Mobile.

They won't. No US carrier will. This is partly due to the fact when something goes wrong consumers tend to blame.the carriers. Apple doesn't even bypass the carriers. It only looks that way but if you do their ADC and understand carriers are there since day one testing everything and reading the patch notes you will find devices finish sooner than others. They just give incremental increases to them to match the numbers of their other devices not finished. I felt all manufacturers, and carriers should do this as it is more efficient.

This article sheds some light on what Microsoft wants to do, but it seems that the carriers will get access to the releases but will not have control if the updates get pushed or not; http://www.technobuffalo.com/2015/05/17/microsoft-to-bypass-carriers-issue-all-windows-10-mobile-upd...

Just saw a quick demo of Acer's Jade Primo, but didn't hear any mention of carriers.  I haven't looked into it yet.
