I have owned and absolutely loved my Lumia 822 and now my Lumia 735. I have been waiting wit bated breathe for the Lumia 950 xl. I figure if the phones that I have been using for the last 2 1/2 years are considered mid level, then high end has to be off the hook. Now I read that VERIZON may not support a flagship WP 10 at all. If that is the case I would seriously consider switching carriers.

Compared to you I am extremely modest. The only app I find necessary is a password "vault" to remind me of my passwords. I find that a lot of apps don't provide much more that what I can get going directly to the websites. Does it take a minute longer, maybe, but I'm not loading my phone up with apps that are taking up resources and possibly exploiting my privacy.
For me it will be interesting how much Win10 and the power of the newer phones will make apps unnecessary or easier to port for developers. I've not been keeping up with it the past few years. In fact, I'm still on a Palm Treo Pro 850 running Win Mobile 6.1 Professional, if that give you an idea of how few apps I find necessary. I am interested in consolidating GPS, a better camera, better browsing and other features into my next phone, and maintaining one platform across my devices.

As most of us know, the vast majority of apps are just crapware. But, because so many people look at just the numbers, they choose that device... which then incentivizes real application developers to focus on them.
One thing I'm very glad about, in addition to the porting you mention, are the Universal Windows Applications. This should help.

I would be happy for a 950XL or else the new Blackberry Priv with Android. Can't make up my mind at the moment but they are both phones Verizon should consider carrying.

There's a disparity. Windows also lost mint recently. Wallaby and Vanguard to name a couple more. Let's be honest the apps we do have don't get updated often. As far as games there are ways around that will work fine enough. Now I don't want work around on productive apps because it can defeat the purpose. I could also use the chase app among others, but it's not a huge deal. WP does have most my other banks.

Those are the only games I have personally. They have my Netflix, and Hulu. Some apps I offered my services to write it for Windows phone for free , but I was turned down. I even offered them the source code and they can keep it without paying me(that's how bad I want some of these apps on the platform).

I'm going to post this here; two many posts about the same thing...
A little background; the user that posted this in Windows Central forums is a very reliable Verizon source and what he says is pretty much the truth.
Been talking to some Verizon customer service people and some people at MS after some tweets caught their attention.
Verizon has to authenticate the phone and they have no choice as long as it passes a certified third party inspection, but Microsoft has to foot the bill for the inspection. It sounds like MS may do that from the back and forth, but it has not been done yet because there are no manufactured models yet. All phones are technically prototypes and the manufacturing lines have not been fired up yet. Conjecture on my part based on what I've been told by VZW and Microsoft, but MS may submit the phone for CDMA certification to a third party. If that goes through, Verizon must list the IMEI numbers and allow activation or Microsoft can lodge a complaint with the FCC.
It sounds like Microsoft does not want to have anyone counting on these phones to work on Verizon upon announcement and it is possible that it will not ship with CDMA bands, but Microsoft may sell it unlocked CDMA at a later date after all the hurdles have been cleared, the phone is certified, and they can confirm VZW activation.
Again, I'm reading between the lines but have talked to people at both companies. Verizon is adamant that they will allow the phone if it passes the necessary hurdles that the FCC allows (and this third party verification is part of the LTE agreement VZW did with the FCC) and Microsoft insists that they have no problem selling the phone with CDMA bands unlocked if Verizon will activate it. But it sounds like it can't be verified until factory models come out.
Moto X works now, but it took time for the factory phones to be verified before Verizon allowed them. This is something they are allowed to do according to the FCC. Now any Moto X Pure should work because the IMEI has been added.
We'll see what happens. Verizon also promised me that they have other "exciting Windows 10 Mobile offerings" in the pipeline that will be revealed in the future near the Windows 10 Mobile launch. I keep hearing that HTC and LG are coming to the party and will offer Verizon phones. There's also noise that Acer will sell the Jade Primo unlocked directly and in MS Stores and will get the CDMA bands verified independently of Verizon to force a listing.
I guess I would just say that we all need to stay tuned and keep out ears to the ground.

Moto X worked without the IMEIs. Nexus 6 worked without the IMEIs, and the iPhone 6 worked without the IMEIs. The system would kick back non Verizon device and work regardless if the IMEIs are not there. It also needs EVDO and band 13 not just CDMA. See iPhone 6S specs for example.

I've received some calls, emails and texts from a member of VZW "Executive Offices" that I won't be able to return until tomorrow. I can't wait to hear the "the word" from that side of the fence.

Finally connected with Richard R in Executive Relations. What a waste of time. Could hear him doing some typing, but no new information. Same stuff we get from the bots at Customer Service here in the forums. Can not believe they spend that much time just to say "sorry, but...." Maybe everyone should send those notes directly to the executive from their page.

I completely agree. As a travelling consultant, I love Verizon's network/coverage. However, if they do not offer a high end Windows 10 phone within the next few months, I will be forced to switch to another carrier. I do not like AT&T but will do so to have a flagship MS Windows 10 phone. I will be taking 2 lines with me. I've been limping along with my Lumia 928 (which I love) waiting for the new 950/950xl only to find out Verizon won't support them. Time for them to get off CDMA like all the other carriers.

My saving grace at the moment is that I do have a TMO sim, which I will definitely end up using more until such time... or if at all... a suitable Verizon phone comes out. And that's all dependent on whether I decide not to switch over completely.
I will comment on both MSFT and VZW.
On the former, it's no secret that it's an MS habit to take the quickest path to market with new devices - most of the time because they're lagging against competitors. It doesn't help them either to depend on initial release feedback from customer complaints (i.e. the Surface Book) to determine bug fix. That's one of the fundamental differences between AAPL and MSFT - that Redmond is quicker to market with more bugs thanks to less thorough testing, while Cupertino will go above and beyond to deliver a thoroughly-tested product. Personally, I'd rather pay a bit more to have a product that won't conk out on me as soon as I drive it out of the lot. Moreover, it's pretty common knowledge that the reason Apple has the fan base and brand loyalty it has is in large part due to their strategy of combining marketing and device features that support ease of use. Microsoft is just getting there, but, just like HP, they operate like the same old crusty IT company of the late 80's and 90's. I can only imagine how much innovation and creativity is lost each time they lay their skilled workforce off.
(On a side-note, visit #2 to the local MSFT store left me feeling like the sales staff didn't seem to care at all that there won't be VZW coverage either. So, who's calling the kettle black?)
On Verizon, I realize that they now have a lot more to be concerned about competition creeping into their market share. Brand identity has never been a problem for Verizon, and a lot of other companies I'm sure base their strategies on Verizon's own plans. Someone else said it in this thread - it'll be so easy for a competitor to capitalize on Verizon's "garbage" if it put their backs behind MSFT. "PC Does What"? Imagine if the "Un-Carrier" decided to invest in this opportunity and won big.
That's the challenge of those at the top --- it's a very steep fall down. And it would be terribly unfortunate if Verizon decided way too late that they've been putting all their chips on 2 out of 3 major OS manufacturers, when the reality is, MSFT isn't going away anytime soon, and shows no signs of giving way to IOS nor Android nor their cloud offerings that can't quite compare to what MSFT has to offer.
As uninformed as I am about mobile technologies and what makes my phone get a signal, etc., I'm going to wait eagerly and hope that I can find a way to hack into this nonsense and make the phone work. Even if it means I forward all my VZW calls to my TMO number. As a person who personally has 13 working Windows devices in my household and vehicles (3 of which I take to work with me wherever in the world I travel), I consider myself to be well invested in everything MS. Regardless of how well invested the rest of the world is, I wonder how much the MS userbase is worth losing to Verizon. And how much the "Nation's #1 Network" can boost sales (and market share) for MS on the mobile soundstage.
Not a lot of foresight here on both parties.

And I thought I was all in on W10. WP/android vs iOS are vastly different OS. The iOS is here's your phone we've take the liberty of taking care of everything for you. You're restricted from making any changes. Apple only needs to test this one scenario, because Apple only allows one scenario. Now obviously you can jailbreak an iPhone which would give you the abilities, customization, and etc. Android or WP can give you to an extent. I promise you that it's just as buggy as any other OS at that point. Apple doesn't test that far. Android and WP have much more scenarios that could happen. Why Apple would test more then Microsoft is a waste of money.
One thing that Microsoft gets a lot of end users in preview programs. The people with a wide arrange of uses, but targets the heavier users. I thought Apple only releases it to developers and not nearly as early as Microsoft does. For the simple fact that they don't need to test as much. The thing that I'll commend Apple for is besides being marketing genius. Is that how much high end computing are we really doing on our phone? Do we really need a lot of customization to check our mail? I think it's smart and what the majority of people need.

Apple does release it to more than just developers. It works just like preview but anything before that is only available to developers.

Apple's forte is one that matches their niche offering: long-term supportability. As opposed to Google's or MS' forte, Apple doesn't release a new phone every quarter. Maybe once in three years. And so, yes - they want to ensure that it's a stable product that can sustain years of use until the next iteration comes out.
Not that I'm a fan of Apple - not at all (see my screenname --- Win Mobile far outdates the initial release of the iPhone.. .by about 5 years). But I can't deny the engineering that goes into their devices. The MacBook has always been cutting edge. Microsoft tries to match, but it always ends up releasing bleeding edge. See each iteration of Office. Or Windows OS' over the years. Always a lot of bugs to fix. The release strategy is all about "speed to market" and not so much how to minimize the volume support tickets that inadvertently come with a hastened product development strategy --- which, I admit, is wild speculation.
But, again, just look at how long it takes for a MS product to be stable once released. Even Win10 today has so many little kinks to fix. My emails on my desktop still can't render embedded images! And Win10 mobile on my 928, a mere 1 month to its intended sale date in Europe.... still can't retain a proper lock screen that shows live tile updates!
One month to Go-Live... this should be about logistics execution - how to get the product to retailers and store shelves. Not testing. Or, in this case, closed-loop development.

Apple has been having it's own share of problems as of late. iOS 8.0.1 was a total disaster. Fixes/updates for iOS 9 are rolling out in a Conga Line. El Capitan has issues.
Hardware issues as well...but not as severe as the SB's.
Hopefully Surface Phones will be coming to VZW. I like my Samsung Galaxy S4...but...there are things with Lollipop that I'm happy with.

1. The Email Trash folder is supposed to disappear when empty. It doesn't always happen. Frequently it will remain visible after being emptied out. The only way to get the folder to operate correctly is to stop and restart the Email app...which wipes out your saved Email account information...so you have to rekey the accounts and passwords.
2. I have various frequently used non-critical usernames and passwords stored in my phone. The idea is to facilitate easy logins. What I find frequently happening is the phone fails to forward the passwords. The various sites state that my password was missing and to resubmit it.
If I close out the browser and open another one everything starts to work correctly again...for a while anyway.
.Firmware is up to date. Nothing new is available.
.I've factory defaulted the phone numerous times.
From what I can tell...these are issues with Lollipop.
My S4 has been well behaved most of the time.
.but...it is time to upgrade. Hopefully Microsoft will release a high end Windows Mobile phone compatible with Verizon Wireless in 2016.
