I have owned and absolutely loved my Lumia 822 and now my Lumia 735. I have been waiting wit bated breathe for the Lumia 950 xl. I figure if the phones that I have been using for the last 2 1/2 years are considered mid level, then high end has to be off the hook. Now I read that VERIZON may not support a flagship WP 10 at all. If that is the case I would seriously consider switching carriers.

I would be curious to know if Customer Support is hoping we check the link and find an alternative choice to the Windows phone. Or are they truly reevaluating the decision not to support the Windows phone. I don't really believe there is a reevaluation going on at this time. Verizon is discovering the vast majority of Windows phone users love the phone and will leave Verizon to goto the carrier that supports the Windows phone. Of course this should not have been a total surprise since many of us arrived here because of the lack of support from our previous mobile carrier. Verizon we are leaving and that is a fact. I already spoke to at&t and the service to my surprise will cost less than Verizon even at the new Verizon no contract rate.
I know we will all get an email or letter months from now saying we miss you and want you back with great offers. Minus the Windows phone the offers will not work. The marketing geniuses still haven't figured it out yet.
I have nothing against Verizon and been very happy with the service and would love to stay on Verizon. Verizon you know what you have to do to keep us.

From the looks of things, you need to tell Microsoft to support Verizon or you'll leave MS.

Not so fast. According to the well regarded journalists and bloggers this is Verizon's fault and not Microsoft. I tend to believe this is a Verizon issue. Just by the fact that Microsoft wants the phone to succeed in Business. To really succeed they probably need both at&t and Verizon. This debate has been ongoing and no matter what we think only Microsoft and Verizon know the real reason for the issue. I do know Verizon was not all in with the Icon and they end of life the device well before it should have been removed. So I am not leaving Microsoft.

Those bloggers are recited one vlogger which can easily be debunked at what he says. A neutral news site already says this as well. Easy to put the blame on Verizon, but the fact of the matter MS could have on their own and they are protected by Block C. Verizon even has to hand them the keys to the car.
That vlogger didn't mention Block C, and mentioned an old system Verizon hasn't used in 4 years. The guy said he worked for Verizon before but he worked there long before these changes were put into place so he has no idea and didn't bother keeping up and people are eating it like cake and ice cream.

It isn't worth debating the point because know one really knows the answer as to why not on Verizon. It also doesn't matter if you are correct in your judgement and Microsoft is responsible. I am staying with the Windows phone and plan to move to at&t.

Actually it does.
Understand Block C rules. Verizon doesn't decide anymore. Verizon even has to have their features for their network non-proprietary based on those same rules. Verizon can claim security as the reason why they are blocking it. They would actually have to show burden of proof if it was.
Based on those rules Verizon no longer has a say as to what happens. If a manufacturer made it work Verizon needs to accept it.

FYI MS already said in the short term they will deal with AT&T and in the long term all carriers interested will be involved.
The 950/XL is a showcase phone nothing more. They need something new to show off Windows 10. The surface phone is where they are going to spend the time and resources that they are not going to spend on the 950/XL.

Windows Phone your right, people ignore the seasoned journalist who have ompany tech contacts and inside info, plus the history of Verizon's own actions in how it has treated Windows Phones over the years. Never the less everyone seems to believe what they want to believe based own what each reads and their own experiences including myself. Though I don't agree with Microsoft's decision to disable the CDMA bands, I can clearly see why Microsoft did. It's because of Verizon. As stated, it doesn't matter at this point. This phone is not going to work on Verizon until the two work it out. Unfortunately many(I believe alot) including myself will be moving just for this phone.

Dude matter how Verizon treated Windows phone...
Rules are Rules. Verizon can't stop any company for making a phone work on their network. PERIOD and the FCC will tell you just that. MS chose not to make it work. Verizon didn't stop them.

None of you guys have read it and understand it. If you guys did and if Verizon was in fact the cause then the FCC would jump in. Since MS didn't make it work then there is not FCC involvement. It's that simple.

The FCC view is what matters more than any one else's. If MS actually wanted to get back as Verizon they are not "not so smart" to alienate their users stuck on CDMA networks whether by costs or by reception. So basically you are saying MS would do that to their customers and potential customers.
I am willing to bet the next phone will be what you think the 950/XL should have been.
I honestly find it funny everyone wants Verizon to answer the questions but Microsoft could answer those very same questions but all we get is from "sources" and never anything official. We did get one official statement was "MS is currently working with AT&T initially on the short term. They will add other support in the long run"(paraphrase), after Legere called them on a lie.
I will get the 950, but I am not going to hold it against Verizon simply because MS didn't add support. I don't blame MS for having a new Windows 10 showcase device on the short term level. I await the Surface phones and I hope they follow the universal path like Google, Apple, and Motorola have went.

What some of us have repeatedly asked VZW is why they push people away from Windows devices instead of being device agnostic, but we never get an answer (not that we would expect them to actually admit it officially.) Many of us (on several forums) have had the same experiences all across the USA - we go into VZW stores and ask for a Windows phone and the VZW rep tells us all sorts of things to NOT sell us a Windows device - including saying something ludicrous like Windows devices don't even exist! This shows that this is a corporate mentality.
I think all of us would have preferred MSFT enabling the capability on the 950/XL phones, but for whatever real reason they have, it didn't happen. (Yes, I would love to know why.) We've all read your posts saying that VZW is forced under Block C rules to allow phones onto their networks, but that only applies if the phone is enabled for the VZW network. Since the 950/XL are not, the rule doesn't come into play.
If VZW was more device agnostic - as both you and I have repeatedly asked for - I doubt this would be an issue. It would be perceived as more a temporary blip. And maybe MSFT would have enabled it for VZW, but I doubt we'll never know.

I have never ran into a business that will not push their best seller unless the sales person is agnostic. A company will not care less as long as it is making sales. This goes with ANY industry. It varies by sales people more than the company itself.

Correct, and wrong at the same time. If Verizon has anything to do with MS not putting in support then they are protected by Block C rules. Since MS did it on their own there is no protection. This is WHY I said it wasn't Verizon stopping Microsoft, and a choice Microsoft did on their own. Microsoft could say why or simply enabled it for people. A person could have went to US cellular, or similar MVNO. I believe even Sprint is started to allow you to give them ECID's to put devices on their network with BYOD(not 100% sure). So I don't think they would alienate potential customers just to smite Verizon. If anything if they wanted to smite Verizon they could have just removed band 13(Verizon is the only one that uses this and none of their MVNO customers don't use this), and say it'll work everywhere except Verizon.
If VZW was more device agnostic - as both you and I have repeatedly asked for - I doubt this would be an issue. It would be perceived as more a temporary blip. And maybe MSFT would have enabled it for VZW, but I doubt we'll never know.
Verizon is device agnostic. It's the sales people who are not. There IS a difference between the two. Just because they are not picking up Windows phone devices doesn't mean they are not agnostic. IF sales are bad I wouldn't pick up stuff either. I would get more of my best sellers than anything else. If it sold better I would carry them. Honestly to be device agnostic for ANY carrier is to not sell any devices at all. We are somewhat headed that way and the FCC plans with Block C can make that a reality as all the new spectrum sold will follow the same rules going forward.

Agree with Tidbits. It's the sales people and as I've said before a little different. A salesman who is paid on commission (don't know if that's the case with Verizon) will almost always push where their highest commission is. It's like Best Buy employees back in the day pushing expensive cords with 0 difference. Which does frustrate me taking advantage of people that just don't know better. Which is going to be the highest revenue for the company. Even when they're not paid on commission they'll still be told to push certain items. Not all sales people know everything. They're not all following this. Most stores don't carry it. I don't blame Verizon for not wanting to take time to train people and inform people in stores on a phone basically none carry. Now of course it's Verizon's choice not to really care it in stores, but it's such a small market I can't blame them. Wall space is expensive real estate.

The 3 Verizon Wireless Stores (2 actual and 1 reseller) my area do have the 735 out on display. They tend to be mixed in with other phones so careful snooping is required.

According to several sales people that I have talked with, they get roughly the same amount of a commission for selling Windows as they do Android. (I don't know about the iPhone.)

Interesting, thanks for the info sickfreak. Well that's Verizon's biggest incentive they can give employees to push a product. I'm sure they really want them to push the extremely overpriced accessories.

I've asked these same people why they push the Androids and they shy away from the question - I can never get a straight answer. They won't even answer me why reps push people away from Windows.
But when we compare the VZW sales people's views of Windows to AT&T or T-Mobile's sales people - it's night and day.
